Not a lot of freedom of movement in it is there? You leave the door and it tells you where you are going next....WOW. I prefer the open spaces in the original Deus Ex. Graphics are pants too.

You all moaning about the graphics but what does it play like? I couldnt care if it was the shittest looking dog turd in the world if it played as well as Deus Ex 1.

I will try myself soon but havent got the bandwidth to get it just yet

Exactomundo. It plays worse than Deus EX. Im just hoping they have released the begining part setting up the story and freedom to take various choices etc occurs later. This is a bad demo if you're trying for sales.

lol, 5600 Ultra. Jumped in through the window of some building a woman pulls a gun and it seems to load some powerpoint slideshow.

I burst out laughing at that point and closed it

It's shit, but for none of the reasons above.

It's simply buggier than a 6 month old corpse. Crashes to desktop, key mappings continually lost etc.

I hope to fk this improves between now and Feb.

Hmm to all those people who thought the demo was poo i want to know what kind of beer goggles ya all wearing. As when i played it, altho it ran like a dog at anything above 1024x768 res the gfx were spinky with nice shadow effects and the physics seemed to be ragdoll aka ut2k3. So erm dated gfx? wtf are u on best gfx ive seen recently ( mind you last game i bought was either bf19423 of ut2k3 so...)

My main problem with the demo was that the control system wasnt as good as the originals. i quite liked the inventory menu and aug menu on the original.

wasnt impressed tho the drone you create to destroy corpses was nice :)

is thief 3 using the same engine? (theres a preview of it in the demo)

It was blurry and clunky. The voice acting was piss poor. It has all the makings of a deus ex 1 alpha.

It all felt a bit.... "iffy".

I snook (sneaked??) up on the greasel trainer, and jabbed her with the prod thingie - 5 stabs and she didn't die.
Bloody hell.

Got out my gun. Bang bang bang, she-bang!.
Finally she died.

I tweaked the demo a bit using the .ini files - moving the HUD out a bit more, making the mouse lag go away etc.

The game ran pretty good in 1024x768, with all details on, but the game still looke blocky and square, especially the HUD and objects close up.
I'd honestly say Deus Ex, looked better overall.


EDIT, btw, have a look at this old E3 Video.

Yeah, I found this too - had to hold down on the trigger for about 30 seconds before anyone would finally get knocked out with it - by which time everyone else would have heard and come running.

So much for a stealth weapon.

Overall, rather disappointed by this demo - it looks to me as if it's been shockingly dumbed down, probably for the benefit of the console users, and somehow seems to look worse than the original and run slower.

Omg,

That video makes the game look class. Some awsome bump mapping and shadow effects. Same with the physics. What the hell happened indeed.

PC gaming will never die out!

Oh and I thought this Deus X demo was quite good. Yes it has bugs etc but its just a demo. I thought the shadows and other effects were superb.

I mean you can knock things off the shelves if you bump into them ffs!! And they go rolling about on the floor...

I'm gonna buy it.

Uh, dysfunction, I think his point was about them developing for the xbox simultaneously, as far as I know. So they've most likely screwed over the PC version just so that it'll run well on an xbox.

And the physics have already been done in the already mentioned max payne 2, which is a great game anyway.

Though I haven't even tried the demo of this yet. Kinda been put off.

Id much rather play games if i possibly can slouched over a couch. Theres a few pc exclusives here and there and just some games that get released prior to the console versions but ultimatley, playing on consoles as the way i prefer it and sitting on a pc desk staring at a screen for minute particle effects, determining how fast the fps are and how many effects there are is getting old and boring.

Id love to see consoles get all the games but unfortunately im far too interested in turnbased rpgs on the pc than to make this computer anything other than a workstation.

Ugh, screw "consoles versus PCs". They're both good for different things. The point is, trying to develop a single game for two platforms at once is a really dumb idea. And since the xbox is likely less work, having a single specification and thus easy to optimise for, and equal profit (I guess?), it makes sense that that's the one they'll be concentrating on, to the detriment of the PC version. Though this is all hypothetical, really.

I suspect the xbox vs pc performance is mainly political.

We all know that a modern pc has significantly more punch than the xbox (which is in effect a pc in a slightly smaller box).

However to release dual platform games and have the pc outperform the xbox would be a bit of a blow to anyone thinking of getting the xbox.
Hence games like halo are released much much later, and very little attempt is made to optimise them.

I aint entering that argument, just saying ill get the console version over a pc version anyday of the week as they cant release them buggys as fuck, in need of 50 million patches.

And if deus ex IW is going on xbox, ill get it on there, thats all i am saying.
