I mean, ok, house, kids, car...etc etc...all fine and dandy in the way of getting something out of life, but who among you is a believer in something greater. Something...world changing? Something, marvel style? Because i'm one of those who believes i have a purpose here.

This is exactly why i brought this up. Complete strangers have come up to me and said "You know, you're going to be something." and it's not something you take lightly.

Karma is a b*tch though, she's been on my back for a long time. Don't exactly know what i've done, but for some reason, she's been bugging me for a loooooooong time.

If you feel you have more to contribute, then its down to you to do something about it. Destiny is a complex one, because although you feel you MUST do something in the future, you have no idea what it is, on when you do it. Its all down to being alert and not chocking when the time comes (for all you know it could be saving someones life to discovering something through research).

Me, I'm a Karma person. I don't have to know what is coming and when, Karma teaches us to think fast in a crisis and enjoy things when they are good. Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

i dont believe in having a purpose, i simply believe in actions happening as they are the most likely outcome from previous actions. in other words, things cant happen any other way.

Depends how you define it. Does God control our every thought and action ? Depends if you believe that or not. I don't. Are all our actions and thoughts pre-planned and no matter how random we think they are there's a grand design plan that we all follow ? You might say we have no way of knowing, but to me its utter crap. There's no such thing as destiny. There's no such thing as fate. We make our own futures. Destiny is just a cop-out to avoid taking responsibility for your own actions.

Noone uses destiny to mention negatives or bad events.

You never hear someone say "i hit him because it's my destiny".

Nor do people say bad things happen due to fate. Only mention of bad things happenning is with karma.

They are all quite useful abilities if you don't really like kids.

Tis why I'm not a fan of destiny, I mean, I DO believe (can quote) in that if you do something, something else in the future will happen because of it (not in the short-term ways) I mean, it's happened to me a few times, and I don't believe it's pure luck.

I also belive in Karma, because if I do something bad to someone, I usually end up getting hurt/something odd happens to me. So it's a weird concept.

So followeth from quantum mechanics! Well almost - its doesnt have to be the most likely event - it is just a possible event.

You cant predict the future because all we can deal with is chance and possibilities. This is the same with humans. Our actions are not predetermined, but not controlled by our conciousness - its more or less just a narrator to what is happening.

But you can't deny that every action doesn't have a reaction, I mean, it's obvious. Oh, will power is a different thing. As somebody mentioned, we can make the decisions (supposedly our own choice) which will lead me back to my point.

i dont believe in will power, you can do something or not. but ultimatley you will do it or... you wont. nothing in between and nothing you can do to change it either way. things like nicotine replacements are a money spinner in my oppinnion. you could very well take them and still end up smoking, or you might not.
i dont think we make our own choice, we just have an illusion that things are happening because we decide they are. the illusion being created by our concept of time moving forward and not having anyway to see past the point we are in at any given moment.

read how people talk and write about karma. "i will do this so hopefully it will make that happen in the future". people are thinking they are deciding the outcome and yet in the same sentance saying the outcome is determined!

Firstly, rep for that post. Because even though I'm likely to argue, or other people are likely to argue, it's completely true. I agree, we have the options of doing A/B/C or what ever, what ever happens (as you said) we can't change, and that will lead to another A/B/C because of the first set of decisions. If we DID have free will, we'd be able to see the decisions and their effects.

The closest thing we have to "free will" is something we call "Logical Thinking" where we look at the options, and pick the best of the three, and have (or try to) see what happens when we make the decision. But nope, there's no way to really know what happens.
