Demos and WonIDs

I appologise in advance if this is a silly thread.

Say for instance someone has a demo of a suspected haxbag and also their WONID. How can the admin be sure that the person has the wonid of the haxpig and has not mistakingly given the ID of someone else?

Please let me know as my sleep patterns are being disturbed by this very thought.

firstly it'll say what the players name is while you're taking the demo.

then all you need to do is to hit the console key and type status. this will show a list of all the players on the server at that time along with thier wonIDs, thus showing the persons who's suspected of cheating ID and proving you've got the right person.

another, easier way aslong as their is only one person playing under a name (not likely in the real world but oh well :/) will be when BW get the stats working (hint hint ). simply search for the players name and it'll show their wonID along with their stats. this also makes it possible to see what other names they play under on BW servers.

Along the same lines...

I have just worked out how to do demos, but it occurs to me that if I am demoing a wallhacker then the demo would be much more compelling if it was viewed with a wallhack.

In fact ages and ages ago I saw a thread, may not have been here, with a link to download a demo of a wallhack, that suggested that you download the WH as well to be able to see the demo properly!!! Being new to HL I almost did, but decided I couldn't be arsed. In view of the way anti cheat software works now I probably had a lucky escape

So my question is, where do I send my demos? And whoever checks them, do they use a WH?

this is what I do

• get suspicious
• watch the guy when dead
• start demoing
• kill myself if necessary then demo
• record the demo in the form 'wonidnumberNAME'
• type status in console when demoing
• leave the game when I am satisfied with demo
• go onto #bwadmins on irc
• ask for assistance, if theres an admin around dcc it to him (zipped)
• join another server

its the method of exchanging files on irc, if ur using Mirc, just right click the admin's name (down the right column), select DCC, and SEND. The program will guide you through the process of selecting the file from your hd. Zip any demos you do.

Ask them first before you send!

I never use a WH to watch demos, no need..


As for recording wonids in demos, it is possible.

While recording a demo do the console > status thing....

The person then watching the demo will need to watch it with console down to see when the person typed status, because the console will not pop down as it did when it was being recorded, if you can do this you can get the info fine
