I'm gonna go for a Vostro 1700, but im unsure about the following;

No Accidental Damage Support [subtract £59.00]

1 Year Accidental Damage Support - Theme Package [Included in Price]

2 Year Accidental Damage Support - Theme Package [add £40.00 or £1/month1]

3 Year Accidental Damage Support - Theme Package [add £80.00 or £3/month1]

4 Year Accidental Damage Support - Theme Package [add £100.00 or £3/month1]

&

Base Warranty - 1 Year Business Hardware Support [Included in Price]

2 Year Business Hardware Support - Next Business Day [add £109.00 or £4/month1]

3 Year Business Hardware Support - Next Business Day [add £149.00 or £5/month1]

4 Year Business Hardware Support - Next Business Day [add £189.00 or £7/month1]

What combo would most of you guys go for? I know it's a bit of an open question but I'm tempted by the standard 1 year next day and possibly 2 years on the accidental. What do you think?

I went with no accidental support & base warranty, simply because if you break your laptop outside of your home your not covered.
I would check the terms and conditions to see if this has changed

Hmm guess I'll go with the same then. I'm fairly careful with things I buy with my own money, as I feel I earned it more. The Vostros also have that protective keyboard thing I guess incase any misshaps. Ta for the advise Chron! :)

And also, to put your mind at ease, taking only the "basic" protection(that is included), saves you so much cash, that the "odds of a mishap vs the money saved/needed for repairs" are in your favor.

You're quite unlikely to have a mishap, and in most cases, your insurance covers it too.

From experiences that people i know have it doesnt matter what protection you go for, the customer support is shit.

It technician I know, being working in industry for abuot 30 years purchased a 3grand dell machine as he had no time to build another one (god knows why he purchased dell!) and it fucked up. 2months after taking the machine away with him having told them whats wrong they still ahd not fixed it and "couldnt find the problem". He told them to fix it and return it within a week. Next day it was left out on his door step for 6hours after they just dumped it there without even repairing it.

Wonder why I wont go dell :p
