If it's a tiny thing unplug it and take it outside. Leave it out there for a few days, job's a good 'un. :)

Alternatively, put the biggest container you can find inside it and hope most of the falling melting ice/water lands in it and put shit loads of towels around it too.

Use newspapers instead of towels, open the door and leave a large wash bowl to catch the majority of the water.

Aren't towels designed for water? Why newspapers? And cos the Daily Mail is so full of shit, will it absorb more water? :)

Because it's easier to just throw them away than wash the towels. Newspaper is also very absorbent.

Unplug it and put it in the bath/shower for 24 hours.

Since when did defrosting things become so complicated? Unplug it, take a hair dryer to it and chip off the huge chunks first, then simply scoop up the rest.

Forget that girly hair dryer nonsense though. Real men use fire. I've no doubt Trem will provide guidance on request.

Trust me. The coolant runs very close to the surface of the walls. Twatting the ice can crack these walls even if your screwdriver doesn't.

Just turn the fridge off, whack a couple of towels under it, or (preferably) a baking tray or something. Shouldn't take very long to defrost :)

Turn off, prop door open, pull away from the wall, angle at 45degrees, come back next day scoop out water. Job done.

Pah, I use a plastic spatula type thing that came with the fridge, plus if it's warm enough you can pretty much yank off the bits by hand.

Real men throw them from the rooftops, that'll break the ice right off*

*may also damage freezer somewhat

Turned it off, gonna wait a bit then start scraping it out with something soft, holding the door open with the lid of a pasta pot.

Student life, fuck ya!

Two weeks after moving in "Hey how do you use the shower?"

I left my freezer in the garden. Amusingly, we had a bbq that night and the large chunks of ice generated by the freezer were very handy for cooling large volumes of beers.

It seems the best way to defrost and icebox is just to shove a towel in there :p

Quickest way.....

open the microwave and the refrigerator

place both open facing one another

tape together with duct tape

turn micro on for 20 minute and it will melt the ice out and evaporate it.

(if you have a cat place cat in the fridge before turning the microwave on so the it can lick the water up)

Be sure to put all your cutlery in the microwave too, it'll get cleaned in the process. It'll also overclock any old circuit boards, ram or other pc bits.
