According to CodeMasters, the US release (september) will have Internet multiplayer capability. I'd guess we'd get an update just before then.

Ah yes, that's what I thought I meant to say ;)

I'd imagine OFP would play pretty good over a LAN, and possibly even with the peer-to-peer connections from within the game (haven't tried that, anyone like to try one evening? Should be interesting). The present Gamespy offering is, quite frankly, dire.

Afaik, there's not even going to be a Linux DS... which sux! Seems OpF is based on some kind of M$ API, which makes porting to Linux hell...

Well on the official forums one of Codemasters staff had said that the US Army had requested a Linux release for their training and it was a strong possibility, so keep an eye out

I've had this correspondence from Codemasters..

".....Dedicated server support and improved network performance should be available in September...."

A little vague, but looks like it will be co-inciding with the US release.

I hope it's out in time for Shotgun LAN 11 ;) Codemasters are giving us some OpFlash goodies, and we are running a mapping competetion for the event.

If ya like yer big games of OpFlash, you might like to come along to Shotgun (www.shotgunlan.com), and RoWeb (www.roweb.co.uk)

Enjoy..

Woohoo! Apparently the dedicated server net code is a huge improvement over what we currently have. Here's an extract from Cold War Flashpoint about the US release (version 1.20).

...the net-code is so much better then the Europe Edition. I was playing on a server with a 200 ping and with 6 people. It was smooth as silk. I saw none of the jumping around you see in the European version 1.10

Thank Christ for that! Can't wait to ditch GameSpy and link up to a BW OpFlash server (eh, Ted? Eh? :D)

The European 1.20 patch is still scheduled for 7 September release and will also feature joystick support as well as new vehicles and weapons.

Apparently there is an add-on due for release in November which will include even more new vehicles and weapons and a complete new campaign!
