Thats really interesting. I wonder if we would ever adopt a sensible drug policy?

We will, but not until lots of the older generation have snuffed it (since they're the bulk of voters).

At least, we better.

Don't be silly. That would a logical thought process.

We're not allowed to. John Major wanted to decriminalise cannabis in 1994 but Britain has signed up to (I think) some sort of UN charter which prohibits decriminalisation regardless of what the voters here think.

The government will, eventually, be forced into applying logic.

Already in the last year or so the consultants they pay for advice on drug classification have actually been doing a good job, they've just been completely ignored by Brown & co.

Cannabis - they recommend keeping it at Class C. Brown goes ahead and moves it to B.
Ecstasy - they recommend lowering it to Class B. Brown goes ahead and keeps it at A.

Anyone else fail to see the point of paying people who know better than you to come up with a sensible conclusion, just to totally ignore it as it goes against what you think it should?

Yep. Most parents in this country honestly believe "all drugs are evil", so if Brown tells the scientists to fuck off he actually pleases these poor deluded people, and picks up votes as a result.

Welcome to the thought processes of a Labour government.

This is true.
