As topic, they all seem to have 1x ide, yes I have old-arse drives and see no reason to fork out money to replace them since they work fine

and since i have 2hds and 1 dvd writer i need 2x ides, but i can't seem to find any 965 or 975 mobo (for my newly acquired core2duo) which is tres anoying.

A sata dvd writer will only cost you £25 or so, and the Gigabyte ds3 is a great value board that is great for OC'ing with the core2duo.

Also what c2d are you getting? Unless you are getting on of the high end ones then don't bother with 975 bad axe mobos. The gigabyte ds3 will perform just as well for a lot less.

bleh guess ill take chilly's advice <shudder>

yeah its not the 1.86ghz one the one up from that i think thats the 6400? shrug

yeah thing is i cant find any decent mobos even with a 775 chipset - ok they mostly have 2 ides but tbh id like to futureproof a bit since if i get a 975 i can then buy a high end c2d like an extreme or something later and get the most out of it.

and tbh i was thinking more of a 965 than a 975, and yea the ds3 looks nice but i heard its a bit gay with some ram types? Guess i'll get a sata adaptor for my dvd writer or something.

No, the latest bios updates sort any RAM problems, you get more problems with asus boards than the gigabyte ones.

Check the ocuk forums, there are loads of threads about any potential problems and fixes.

Both Wijlet and I are running ds3's with the 6400. Think we are both running them at just over 3ghz.

What RAM have you bought or are planning to?
