He's started his stunt now, 'Above the Below'. I saw him go up in his box at around 9 o' clock this evening, was a surprise to see all of the stuff that he brought up with him: quilt, toilet roll etc.

I am 90% sure that he is having some kind of glucose or vitamin supplement being fed to him inside his water, especially after hearing that after around 45 days without food the average person usually goes blind. I don't think he'd take that risk, no matter how crazy he is. I'm also not sure if he will even do the full 44 days, he may bail on 30 or something. I'm heading down central London on Monday to see him anyways (nothing better to do :p) and it should be quite an amazing thing to watch.

It is very strange though, has reality TV been taken way too far? Its almost like he is in a zoo, and the people outside are watching him for their own amusement, but as it is at his own personal will I suppose it is different, and when you plus that with the fact that he is going to get a 5 mill payout at the end of it you can see his incentive. I still think he's got a screw loose though, no doubt about it.

Anyone else interested in his 'stunt'? Or am I the only sad bastard here? ;)

I watched it on Sky one but switched over to watch Scrubs.

I was talking about the body digesting it's own organs and stuff... and after the fact they went on about water so much I'm almost certain he'll get glucose etc. (even without his own knowledge). However, there are psychologists etc who have permission to bail him out if he gets into trouble... So maybe he's genuine.

Am I the only one who noticed he had a half developed double chin when he went in too? :p

Beats levitation tricks I suppose. I also doubt he would do the full 44 days without some sort of vitamin/energy intake. They would obviously have had to get permission first and I cant see it happening if there was severe risk to his health.

Another one that interested me was that mind-reader chap who was supposed to be playngi russian roulette live on TV. What happened with that, I missed it and havetn heard anything.

He actually has been putting on some weight the last few months in preparation for this, hence the double-chin hehe. His supplies were afaik, water, toilet rool, adult nappies, a sleeping bag and pillow. He also said live on TV that he will definately make it through the first 3 weeks, but after that it will be tough and me may start goin insane { as if he already aint } :p

Imo, he is a bit of a nutball and cant see him sticking this out, but GL to him anyway.

hes a cheat anyway.

Remember the ice trick he did? Well it was all done using some complex imaging. He would stay there for 5 minutes, then images would show him there, he would be lowered into a room underneath the ice where he could sit there, watch t.v., have a cup of tea, do whatever, then go back up. Silly really

Not exactly sure how hes gonna cheat this but summit along the lines of supplements in his water would sound about right.

Doubt he'll make it. 44 days is pretty insane. Apparently after something like 40 days, your stomach acid begins eating away at your stomach lining/organs etc. Oh and I don't think the Derren Brown thing has been on yet. That'll be one to look out for, some of his stuff is freaky...

I hadnt heard that, but to be honest its nto cheating - hes a magician, if he can convince people that he is starving himself for that length of time then good luck to him.

imo, this isnt reality TV, its a stunt, the major reality TV stuff didnt kick off till 1999 in the US while stunts have been goin be4 Tv was made Its impossible to stay up here for that long, he's an illusionist, all the stuff he's done be4 this are possible, but this isnt, not without cheating.
He's using his previous acts to make people belive that he has a chance of doin this.
Well he stayed under the ground for 8 days, he has a shot at doin this etc... 8 days is possible, 44 isnt.

I believe, he did his 'stunts' up till now.

However i firmly believe he will die if he does go 44days with no food.

Testing the human boundries is 1 thing, making your body eat its self is just stupid.

As long as he is getting water he could stay up there for a rather long time. The stomach acids will not 'eat his organs', the water prevents that. What will happen is that after a certain amount of time his body will start absorbing his fat cells. After those are depleted his body will thén begin feeding on his extra protien, i.e, his muscle mass. The average person has about 60 days worth of fat cells/muscle mass to sustain themselves. As long as they have water. He wouldn't die because his body was feeding off it's self, he's die because his liver and kidney functions would stop. He'd basically get a killer stomach ache and go to sleep and never wake up.

This so called stunt is possible.
I don't understand why they call it a stunt tho. I understand a stunt to be something the average person can't do, something that takes practice and skill. This takes no skill. Sitting in a box starving yourself takes no skill at all.

My point to add to that, would be after that amount of time his body will not be funtioning very well at all, after a couple of weeks his body will struggle to keep the mucosal layer of the stomach going. The fact the he would die from major organ failure before his stomach acids would digest his stomach is a minor point.

If he is genuine and does this he's going to have one hell of a set of stomach ulcers...

More than you could count on one hand...and the hands of every single user of this forum.

Another answer could be:

Too many!

Anyhoo, I had a look for a relatively accurate answer and couldn't find one. Mooching through all the documents on global economic social yadda yadda (zzz) in sub-saharan countries made me depressed and I think I will go to bed.
