Oh, yeah. The only reason the forums are on my desktop is to allow me to do nothing, that's quite true. I also have several sites open related to HP, IBM, SUN and other tech stuff open, which I refresh periodically to see if anything related to me is going down and I seem to google quite severely in search of solutions for the more obscure problems I encounter. However, as Durz said earlier, I can get by with some recent tech documentation and what's in my head easily enough.

What bugs me about it is that the blanket ban on external internet traffic is a knee-jerk, or panic reaction by certain people. No procedure has been followed at all it seems, just the "shut it down...now" command from on high. Too american for my refined euroish taste perhaps. If I allow panic to dictate policy I get slaughtered by management, but now I'm just bitching again

Don't get me wrong, if it were up to me there would be next to no internet at all available for the average denizen of BigCompany's networks, and I'd have carefully inventoried who needed to go where and why before allowing people access to the outside. Ah well, it was not to be, Nanette!!
