Its a bit of a shit hole to be totally honest, been a few times it aint all far from where I live.

Better than Bradford, less aggression on the streets. Not alot to do there though so don't expect loads of nightlife.

darlington is good for its trainstation.

apart from that i see no need to go anywhere near the place.

if your planning on moving or something, why not move to boro instead? its a hell of a lot better and has many decent areas to live if you stay on the outskirts (not over the border and not boro/stockton outskirts). and boro is not stockton so dont mistake that either

Bradford and Darlington are pretty much on par for how they look and stuff, but like cho said go to the wrong parts of Bradford and you can be in bother, not so much like that in Darlington.

Go to the wrong part of Darlo and the sheep will be nibbling at your shoes I actually found Darlo to be a very sleepy town, relaxing at times if a bit boring. Alot to be said for that though, living in a big city like Manchester and all the crap that goes with it often makes me wish I lived in a small quiet town surrounded by nice countryside. That is what you will get with Darlington, Bradford on the other hand can be a bit ropey and there is alot of racial tension there as well sadly.

stay away from the centre or the outskirts unless its vital to be there (for the purchase of heroin, prostitutes or offensive weapons).

you can quite easily go shopping in the town without getting to far towards the border.

although if you want cheap housing you can buy one near the centre of town for around 30k. granted you will be robbed at gun point several times a year, witness police breaking into your neighbours houses and get beaten on the streets. but what more do you want for 30k?

Just had a conversation with a recruiter and I was vaguely curious, since I've never been there. Not sure I'd want to move even further away from Sheffield than I already have though, since most of my mates are there.

Guess I'll keep looking in the Leeds/Bradford area for now. Bradford isn't too bad provided you never, ever, ever, ever actually go anywhere!! I kind of live in a straight line between my house, my work and the shop!
