Hello everyone, i will try to be fast . Currently there is not a single website that is for free and has a nice database with videos from our beloved mmorpgs ( DAoC and WAR ). So i have decided to make one. Since my knowledge on web designing is limited into java and html i made a website using only that. Hopefully i found a friend who is currently remaking the website using Visual studio 2008 , so we can have something very close to youtube. But w/o using any bandwidth for us. that means that the database that is currently on develepment, is using embed files and not the files themselves. (Stage6 · Upload Video Clips. Share, Watch, Download Videos is perfect for the uploading of the files ) Anyhow i have launched the html/java version of the website. and i wanted from freddyshouse community to give their oppinions of my idea.

The website url is : Warhammer online - Get a Life .. feel free to check FAQ and use the information you need there to submit-rate-review a video.

If you are intrested in this project, and you got the knowledge to help feel free to contact me.

Moreover ideas for improvement, and MOSTLY submiting the videos themselves will help us A LOT.

I hope the community cooperates and we can make this work :p

it doesnt matter, video hosting and data hosting websites exist all over the place.. you just need the url.. it doesnt need to be streaming, more over. every single video that will be submitted is going to be in my possession. so worst case scenario i will buy myself 1 or 2 terra space on a server and gonna host them myself.. i would prefer to avoid that scenario. but i will gladly do it . still there is no need to do that. Free hosting websites exist all over the place. the only problem is that they are not organised. i wont host for the time beeing the videos. i will just have the reviews, rating and comments on the videos. and a working link for a direct download. if a link is not working cause the free website closed. then i will just upload it to a new free video hosting website. and i will just fix the link. And i repeat, if this idea works, i will make sure to buy a few terras of space with a huge bandwidth and will host them myself.

The problem with these videos is they tend to have copyrighted music which the creator has no rights to use whatsoever.

You'll probably get away with it if you're just linking to other sites where you can get the downloads from. It's still risky though. If you go uploading stuff by yourself then be careful, you'll be the one distributing it and could be liable for it.

Just be careful, camelotmovies.net got targeted by GEMA due to their popularity.

What GReaper said.

Most of the game movies made by players have been made with illegal copies of Fraps/Gamecam, edited with illegal copies of video editing software using not licensed material (mostly music).

Your site tries to be a DAoC video database site, a Warhammer Online site and a guild site at the same time also, I don't think it's good approach.

No one will also give you free space and free bandwith and even if you pay for it you will not be able to refinance it with commercials on the site (questionable anyway due to sub-legal content).

To give you a figure: Frozensolid's last Valewalker movie did close to a Terrabyte traffic in a month when it got released, from my box alone. Having hundreds of movies and being the primary traffic site for them will give you a nice bill or cut down your bandwith to 10 MBit/s as most bandwith providers don't have real flat rates.

Maybe you want to contact Chribba who is running EVE Files and ask him about his experiences, he is running a file service for EVE Online.

When I first read about stage6 closing down I felt sick to my stomach, it was such a good service. Along with it, joox.net wil disappear. QQ.

Stage6 website said:
As Stage6 grew quickly and dramatically (accompanied by an explosion of other sites delivering high-quality video),

The above quote is very right however, there are probably loads of them now but one in particular seemed really nice. It offers hd streams just like stage6 and its not bound to the mediocre divx codec. I'm going to try uploading some of my movies there and if it holds up nice, I'd recommend it to everyone. It's probably very suited for your project also, wutae.

url: Vimeo, Video Sharing For You

some hd examples here: The Vimeo HD Channel on Vimeo

edit- fuck me, 500 mb weekly limit. that's kinda shit for large files like daocmovies.

I think Vimeo is moderated fairly heavily, the restrictions are a bit, erm, restrictive!

Please upload a video only if:

1. You created it, or participated closely in its creation. No TV shows or footage you found on the web.
2. It does not contain pornography.
3. It is not a commercial, infomercial or other type of advertisement.

It's a great site with high quality videos, probably because they aren't just videos people have found on the web and uploaded to YouTube.

100000 GB shared.

That is a lot of downloading. Didn't think there were so many interested viewers for DAoC videos. You don't mean 100000 MB shared do you?
