Mate these boards aren't the best place to ask such a question as these boards are full of trolling wankers that spend their days flaming general things. Just look at the number of players and I'll think you'll see that most people like the game. Including myself.

Is it zergy? Well yes for the narrow people who have yet to discover that the merchant in the portal keeps actually sell medallions to other places than Hib.

Cheers ;)

Its far from perfect but its still the best MMORPG on the market IMHO.

Yeah, boards are full of whiners, who don't do much else than complain about how crap the game is, and then resubscribe for another 3 months the next day *G*

This game is best ever - to be annoyed , to be pissed off , to be frustrated , to tell your friends fukk off - if you miss those emotions in real life so keep playing :)

Speaking of Final Fantasy, haven't those Asian dudes been playing it for 1.5 years or so? Would feel silly starting then imo. And well there are some features I don't really like :/

Not too read up on the subject, but can't you sort of change your profession whenever you feel like it by going to your house? In that case it wouldn't all all be a roleplaying game. Rather a multi-rolplaying game. MMOMRPG?

Cheers ;)

I beta tested this from Beta 3 (USA) and decided to quit 3 months after release.

I came back 4 weeks ago ill tell you what i know.

Initially the first thing i thought .. its not changed much.

But i decided to stick with it and NOT play my main char and created a new char instead.

Im glad I did, it made it feel like a new game.
Why?
Well the first thing was i was playing the game with new folk as most of the guys i used to know have left so getting to know new people is always entertaining and fun.
Secondly i was playing a new character so i got the n00by feeling we all love and third, i got the expansion which is completely new to me (not to mention a better interface and better graphics).

RvR has been enhanced quite alot, and going by the US version its going to get additional content, things like getting your guild emblem up on the frontier keeps, my only beef is the unstable take over of the keeps, for example i was playing for 4 hours the other evening, a total of 8 keeps changed hands between the 3 realms, which lead me to believe that the consequnce of taking over keeps is still minimal, they have however added a very good dungeon called Darkness Falls which is open to each realm depending on who has the most keeps.

I also have the backup knowledge of knowing ive still only played 1 realm so i know if that anytime in the future i get bored with it i can quite easily move to another realm and play what could be considered a completely new game but with similair rules.

In addition once you get bored of the old grind, you can have a dabble in player housing which as you probably know has been released today.

And to get you even more into the spirit of new things, TOA will be coming to us soon, the second expansion which from what ive seen introduced even more interface options, new weapons which can be leveled themseleves and alot more content for the end game.

Of course this all depends on how long you have been away and what it was like when you left. as a few have said on this thread so far, I also think it is the best MMOG out there at the moment.

I hope that helps, bear in mind i have only just returned so i guess my opinions are a little enthusiastic.

Only thing i could suggest is reactivate your account but start a new char so you dont get the memories of why you quit in the first place and see how it goes.

Hope that helps.

In what way because I'm thinking to buy FFXI as well... I don't like rvr that much and pve is becoming boring on DAOC now that I've tried most stuff...

Well, i have been away for about half a year, bought SI and started playing again, was very happy my chars still existed. Now im playing for about 2 months again, having fun again, started a necro, great when you cant find a group.
Didnt even completly explored the new area's.
Got some new goals to play for, spellcrafting, getting enough money to buy a cottage.
Didnt do much RvR, never really did, so i cant say much about that.
Im guildless atm, maybe you'll have even more fun in one, those Caer Sidi (?) raids look pretty cool.

Daoc is a grt game, and fun to play, absorbing and rewarding <and frustrating>
now if only a GoA would hand it over to someone who knows how to actually run a service properly and itll be perfect

Disgruntled lost my glowy staff cos of rollback
/rude GoA

but yes, as brucie wouldsay
