Ok, kinda wierd problem, have searched alot for a solution and found some people with the same problem but their fix was like "bought a new computer".

The problem:
When i play daoc, sometimes i can play it for like 10 mins.. other times for hours. But it always ends the same way. My screen freezes and then i cant do shit but reboot. It just randomly locks up, after this happends my harddrives start working kinda fast and i can hear the ingame sound for like 15sec and after that i hear some wierd noice and kinda static sound. I have tried lots of diffrent drivers, both omegadrivers and ati catalyst.

When i have fastwrite on and apu recover, the screen freezes and then goes completly black and dies and its "out of sync". If i turn em of the screen just freezes.

This problem first occurd when i after a long break from mmorpgs tried Silkroad Online with some friends, the crashing started here. (dont know if this is an D3D game but i think so). I can play q4 and qw fine without crashes. Its just in daoc (wich i think is D3D game?) it crashes.

Would be very greatful for any help i can get

(forgive my spelling, english aint my first language)

comp specs:

p4 3.0ghz
2gb mem
ati PC 800xt pe 256mb gfx
asus p4p800E deluxe (dunno if i typed this right) motherboard.

Sounds possibly like the gfx card is overheating, <cough> ati <cough>. Have you got any other cooling in your system apart from the cpu fan and vga cooler, as with an ATI and a Pentium lots of heat will be generated. Try finding the running temps of both.

Microsoft released an update to DirectX last month so it may be worth trying that out ... but my money is on the overheating card.

what temp should the card be at? running at ~60 at full load atm, i have now updated my bios and will check if it makes any diffrence, and why would the card overheat in daoc and not in quake 4?

i dled that new directx and it was still crashing

atm, cpu temp 53c and gfx 53c

Its abit high, but not drastic, but it might overheat in DAOC more than quake, because of bad coding and daoc takes more cpu power than some of the FPS games, so that might be it... tbh i don't play quake so i wouldn't know.

However 60ish is high enough to possibly make the card cut out through overheating, had same problems with my x1800xts before i got some extra cooler fans. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Fans_47.html might want to look into some extra fans to cool it down abit, but can't guarentee thats it.
