the comunity run like crezy 4 some new games and dev seams dont care about the game just get expansion over expansion how give u the way 4 uber stuff and after 1 year come other 30€ too get other uber stuff

Well its more-so the community that makes it fun for me nowdays and less the actual game(by community I mean people I like and chat to ingame and not some of the nubbins that inhabit the place that I want to beat with a stick)

I supose it really depends on what aspect of the game you like be it PvE or RvR. Most of the expansions are geared at PvE so I can see most of those people enjoying that part, I dont mind it its ok gives me something to do at least.

The RvR is a bit lacking but imo is still the best on the market(followed close by Guild Wars), again I think that is dependant on what classes you like to play and how they do in the old RvR balance. Still I have fun there even with my gimpy characters

Been playing since closed beta EU retail and still love all aspects of the game. I still only have one level 50 character (my aug/mend since day one shaman) and I've a couple of alts on Mid/Excal in the high 30s and 40s and one lvl 47 paladin on Alb/Pryd.

I've only just really started doing the ML stuff and I've only just got a template for my shaman and been doing some proper RvR.

Perhaps the game still seems fresh to those people who didn't race to 50 by being PLed and took the time to explore and do the quests and just generally enjoy finding out about the backstory of the game?

I'm not saying those that did PL were wrong to do so by the way, it's a different playstyle is all and perhaps that's what contributes to people feeling jaded?

Since the introduction of New Frontiers I'm loving the whole keep take/defence and bridge fights that have been going on and I've finally found a use for the 15 Cave my shammie is specced in (grin).

I've also been playing Hibernia just lately, trying out the new Catacombs stuff over there and having immense fun.

At the end of the day, the game is what you make of it. It's there to be enjoyed.

As someone mentioned before, its the community, not the game that makes daoc.

I fell out of love with the game long long ago, what keeps me here is the community, with the rivalry, the challenge and the fun moments.

Sadly theres less and less of all those now but theres really nothing else out there to match daoc.

Or to put it simply, DAOC is the only game out there which has a clever PvP system that gives you the choice to engage in PvP battles or not. You wont meet any PK's or enemies unless you CHOOSE to put yourself in that situration, whilst still maintaining some element of believability about it all.

Plenty of games have 'pk' flags etc others let PK's run rampant, but DAOC has its clever frontiers with a believable war environment to keep everyones competitive streak going, and it all makes 'sense'.

Any other MMORPG could copy this, but they wouldn't want to be seen to be copying it, so they try something different instead as theres no way to have an optional 'frontier' environment now for PK combat without having their game compared to DAOC which would be embarrassing, so DAOC still reigns.

I could be wrong, there maybe other mmorpg's with similer systems but I have not seen them, nearly everything else uses unrealistic 'player killer flags' or collesiums for pk fighting which doesn't keep the realism.

I still enjoy the game, but not as much as i used to.
No matter how good a game is, you will get bored of it eventually. Over 3 years is a long time to play one game.

Lately i have often spend more time browsing VN and FH than playing the game.

If only Mythic could fix some of them stupid ML abilities, that alone would help a lot.
NF was supposed to make RvR new and fun again, but it failed in many ways, imo.
Instead of the old mile-gate camping, we now have bridgecamping.
The frontiers are so huge, everyone go to the same places...bridges and docks.
It's either that, take a tower/keep or roam around for hours without a fight.

I could go on about how much i hate NF and it's design, how similar the realms look(edit: as in realm A = realm B rotated 90 degrees) and how much the porting/boat system sucks, but i think i'll stop here.

If the game was like it is now when i started playing it, i'm sure i would have loved it just as much, maybe even more.

i think for me its the fact that - and Mythic please don't get upset - DAoC isn't as massive a franchise/name/label as other MMORPG's out there, so avoids the horrible fan-boi thing that can form.

SWG, WoW and EQ2 are good examples (sorry to pick two Sony games, but thats the my opinion, and no one elses ) which are already popular because of other factors. SWG has the bearable mix of Star Wars fans and MMORPG fans, WoW has the Warcraft franchise, which has been going on for *insert massive number here, as i can't be arsed to find out* years, with the stand alone games and comics. EQ2 is, as is kind of obvious, a sequel, and as such can draw from both the first wave of players and can appeal to a new audience too, but has the "oldskool clique" feel to it, with some of the original EQ players seeming a bit... "stuck up" as it were. Y'know, like the grandpa who won't stop barking on about the war...

well i get 3 daoc accounts and from playing some times 12 hours daoc and eat on front of pc now i rely dont dont have fun ( i dont enjoy the game anymore) and play @ 2h at day
i just see that i go on circle i mean after maked a savage and delete him now get a warlock and maybie i del him too after get the ML now wee got champion lvl what will be next ?
like Cadiva say on NF keep take is funy but seams ppl take keeps just too get RP PL

Well been playing a while here, had 3/4 50s - deleted all of them to start again. Currently having a great laugh with a Mincer - gr8 fun to play, might keep this 1.

I like to compare DAoC to a game of Golf - it's not the overall round that you remember it's the good shots you had over the game. Last night springs to mind - Mids - 6 of them - taking Thid CK - 1 Alb - Me - They succeed - I die - 22 Mincer now at apk - steps out - 24 Warlock outside taunting me - Euro servers so Lock not nerfed yet. Lock taunts a bit then sits down to tempt me - I go for it, sneak off grab a Badger pet - return through the tree's sneaking My quarry is still sat outside apk - with that 1 chamber of impending death circling I sic pet on her - it attacks - I can see her straffing around desparate to find me - she is good - not blowong that chamber on a blue con pet - I charge in - both DD's with her back to me, Stun - whip out my sword and hack, 5s later boom her insta DoT hits - although lucky me Primary bolt its attached to misses - 2 of the DoT ticks are really low on damage - she dies - I remain with 2hp - I shout so loud I wake up the whole house

Now that's a good game - and why I will be around for a while yet.

Oh and just to not put Miss Middy down - she did kill me about 5 times - so it's 5-1 in her favour - but that 1 act of revenge had me cheering, sadly if I go into work and tell anyone will be branded a geek and a nerd - so I am telling you lot as my MMoRPG life is unknown to all the macho gits I work with

yes the class that i like is healer but too damn hard too group and low rr only 4L7 and mids dont know the power of a higth pac healer soo i respec him on a haste bb ( many thx guardxman he group me on emain that on lvl 42 waz 3L2)
and some time i play whit him on rvr even is 50 aug resists rox
