DAOC Free Alternative?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this - please feel free to move this post if not, but have people tried Champions of Regnum? Its basically like a pre-TOA DAOC.

(I can't post a link as it won't let me ;/ )

It's completely free, and the RVR.. well.. it's brought back more than a few memories for me of the old times .

Playing the horrendously under-populated Syrtis realm right now.. give it a try, you might even like it!

gw2 is pretty good for a one off fee.. with siege and open world RvR vs other servers etc, I'm actually trying Rift again since it went totally free to play on the 13th june; and unlike SW:TOR they haven't capped free players or limited content etc.

But yeah there's a couple games out right now that could get you back into an MMO mode

Doesn't take 6 months, it'll probably take you a couple of days worth of game time. which isn't alot.

Shame you can't dual log or multibox on there. I assume a tank will be a fast way of leveling?

Not really, there's ALWAYS groups, so anything is really fast at leveling tbh, level 41+ you do a SH raid where you basically zerg down Summoners hall, and that's really quick XP..

I'm exempt to the rule, 'cos I had crafters and such to help me gear up, but you can ask Overdriven how difficult it is/was to level/gear up with the help of the guild/me etc.

Yeah, pretty much. I think I owe Gwad about 5p in sorts for helping my healer gear up at 50. It's a proper pain in the ass if you're not guilded/know anyone to help you. Cash is a pain in the ass too, either you roll a farming alt or end up not playing tbh.

Is a fun server to play if you have people, but otherwise =|

Note: I've rolled a SB and got it SCd to level 15. The first 5 levels are HORRIBLE every time I roll an alt. End and Mana Regen are a pain, I can handle not having buffs - But not having perma end (Which was a luxury on live) is a PITA.

Did a few rounds on my infiltrator, not much luck.. missed every single PA
Decided to start from scratch and level a savage.. Leveling was extremely quick now a days and I'm already 18 xD

Is the action still awful at 50 level though?

I don't know why, but the thought that I can't dual log just puts me off. I like being able to have the access to multiple accounts for PvE purposes.

There is action at 50, but a lot of elitist pricks. "OMG U MUST BE 4L2, FULLY TEMPD AND 50!" - One wipe people rage quit etc. If you've got a decent group like we do, it's not bad because you play well together and it's not a temper-tantrum.

Sounds not exactly casual friendly? Payday soon and it's either reup live or bite the bullet and make another 50 on Uth.

PvE isn't an issue, if you wanna make dollar, you can easily do it with a 5 man farm team in Taj (Custom zone) and most other places are doable with a small man (Where the guild will help and get you the items you need anyway)

People do tend to be 'elitest' at level 50 (Tbh, I am, 4L2(or near), temped, and 50 in a 8 man RvR group is a must, since you can get to RR4L2 @ Thid [44-49]) Then up to RR5 you get stupid rps for taking keeps and such.

The guild I created for RvR purposes have agreed that we're going to do a tad bit of zerging to take down keeps and such to get to a more competitive RR, because RvR action is great in Uthgard, just most the groups that run are pretty high RR, and usually very good players in comparison with live.

That's why I'm trying to get people from FH to play, because you're all generally decent players, and I want to get people that will be on regularly (not hardcore) and won't ragequit at the first sight of a challenge.
