Just got my self an AG Neovo F417 and i must say it is bloody great , excellent picture quality etc..... except when it comes to daoc.

Firstly i cant get it to be a decent brightness in daoc and then not blind me when i start a webpage or something up. I had this problem with my old CRT but not to this extent.

Secondly when im playing daoc and i turn , either with the keyboard or the mouse , the stuff in the distance goes very blurry while turning , the monitor supposedly has a 12ms response time but i cant look at the screen very long with it like that.

So the question is , have people had similar experiences like this or have i just bought a crap TFT , i read the reviews on it but they were all positive.

Been using a Philips 190S for over a year, get no blurred picture at all, close up or distance regardless of the amount of movement etc. So I'm guessing the 12ms you've been quoted isn't that accurate.

TFTs should actually be a little brighter than a CRT as they can't render black perfectly and it's actually a sort of really really dark grey. If your struggling try using powerstrip to change you brightness on the fly with quick-keys in game. Works a treat for me (hate DAOC at nighttime, strains my eyes too much). Not sure if powerstrip is seen as a cheat, if it is I'll risk it, rather have a banned account than a migraine. It's merely an alternative to changing your monitor brightness settings :-P

I bought a viewsonic VP191b cause it said it had 8ms response and was uber for games etc.

Load of bollox as far as daoc is concerned. I get the blurs when moving especially with really strong colours.

I also got the darkness so i run powerstrip although that sometimes goes off if i alt-tab.

Got a Sharp 191A TFT. Only 16ms response time, but plays DAoC fine. I don't notice any bluring.

I do get the contrast problem though, of the dark areas being very dark, and bright white being retina burning. I think thats a trait of TFTs in general though.

Play daoc at work on an iiyama tft with a 16ms response time. No blur at all and tbh it doesn't strain my eyes either.

Never had either of my tfts at work hurt my eyes.

I bought a Samsung SyncMaster 913V not too long ago.

Was different from the CRT ofc, but I love it so far.

This is 12ms however, didn't put so much cash in it even though I love it :)

The screen adjust itself to different brightnesses everytime I enter a game.

Use the profile thingie that comes with your drivers. it might also work if you setup your Direct-X section to go be bright, then when it goes to desktop your "normal" setting is used.
Dunno how it will work when running daoc in windowed mode though.

I use a Dell 2405 24" Widescreen TFT with no issues other than having to turn my Gamma up for DAOC as its too dark otherwise. Every other game is fine.
No blurring, 12ms response time. Massive wide angle keep war views :sex:

Cheapo Mitac 14" TFT here. Nice and bright, never a problem after 3+ years.

Some laptops have been a problem, but my current one isn't (unless on batteries, as it's not backlit then, but then I only play Camelot on power).
