DAoC and coming back now

One simple question:

Is it worth coming back?

Been around doing RL stuff and also WoW ( :m00: ) so basicly scrapped the idea of playing daoc since december '04. Been playing WoW pretty hardcore and got my share of what it got to offer, the PvP is ok'ish but doesnt even reach daocs PvP up to the ankles. Pretty shiny lights basicly holding me back in wow atm and seriously planning on getting back to daoc :p

The not so simple questions:

So, what's it like playing daoc atm? got my 50 chars on Excal/mid so going to continue playing excal/mid.
Are the servers empty nowadays or are there still new people joining? are there enough to get groups going both for PvE and PvP?
Also noticed that catacombs has come, is it any good?

Seriously getting sick of these type of posts, there is a new one each week. Take the time to search for similar threads and you will see that the general opinion is that DAoC is still hugely fun and active but at the end of the day only you can decide whether it is "worth coming back" or not.

I like yourself came back from WoW. Hit 60 and got bored showing off my l33t weapons and stuff in orgrimmer all day so came back here. :p Im enjoying being back tbh, got back into the old swing of things.

English servers are about to be clustered, so rvr will become alot more populated.

Cat's is alright, haven't really explored it much tbh but the instance adventuring is quite nice for leveling.

Darkness rising expansion hopefully before the year is up which brings mounts/champion levels and new stuff.

Cant be that bad that people are still posting those threads, after all.. more people = more fun aight?

Think the thing that will tip me over is the good old /stick /face functions, been missing those in wow since 5 minutes after I first started playing. :m00:

Oohh yes! the fustration! ... my girlfriend ALWAYS got lost..!

but atleast she learned to use the map, made it abit easier...

it was like 'Hunny I got aggro, could you throw me a heal please?' ... ' Darling..?' ....

and she would go ' huh, where are you? I found a silver mine!'

I see 19 threads just in this forum that have been posted in in the last 24 hours - never mind the other forums ;)

you have a strange definition of a dead forum :)

There are a lot of really nice little touches in Catacombs, unfortunately most players won't see them unless they take time to explore or to level a new alt without PL'ing in Avalon City or it's equivalents. I find the Cata zones are almost entirely deserted which is a shame theres so much more there than just the task dungeons

/stick and /face or not, I can still achieve this on DAoC with my mother. :( (Wouldn't want her without that though! ;))

I don't like the idea of lvling all the way from 1 to 50 somewhere "inside a cave/dungeon"...it gets really depressing after some time and I feel like "whoah!" when I get to an outside location after done some mini-quests from catacombs :)

can be just me tho :p

I think the thing for me is the sheer variety of places you can train now. Always new things to see or experience.

I particularly enjoy the instances, though, simply because it's soooo satisfying to actually clear a dungeon, rather than camping mobs.

But The Frontlines and The Otherworld are out side, admitedly a grim outside but not a cave or dungeon :) And the Underground Forest is quite atmospheric too

I did level my Tic from 1-50 entirely in Catacombs, maybe that's why she makes zombies as revenge :)
