Can't be bothered logging on and having to do the whole Buffbot shit again only to be ganked by A) No-one B) Everyone at the same time.

This is pretty much how I feel about it. There are a lot of rose tinted glasses as far as many are concerned but what a lot of people forget is that many people that continued in DAoC had up to 3 buffbotts to assure them victory.

I have lots of fond memories of DAoC and the people I played with but I'm content for them to remain as memories.

I got one of those as well - haven't played for years and the card details I used to pay for it have long changed.

just log in with game acc info, no need to access subs page or fiddle with any details.

I suggest people check their accounts after the free week,
i have very little faith in them not activating auto renewal in the process

I love the game but I left for the reason a lot of people did. The pop just got too low to make playing worthwhile. Also, I uninstalled the game and I REALLY can't be bothered to install it + Patch it again for one week.

pfft, i installed and loaded up the game...

12 people on excaliber
11 people on prydwen.

I think the server is struggling to handle such a large number of players!

that sux

I wonder how long do you reckon those 23 people will be on line for? play for an hour, get bored, uninstall, and wish they never bothered re-patching the thing in the first place?

Chances are they won't see each other
and are you REALLY gonna get back into it / enjoy it with 12 other people? I dunno...maybe some ppl are still playing Europe still. Why...there you go...

If there was 2000 people it would probably be worth while patching for a couple of hours, grabbing some beer, and playing till the wee hours

it might even be worth it for a free month

but 7 poxy days and a population of 23 is just crap

This and considering that the patcher was slower then a M-F-ker (15k/s) made me think trice (2nd thought was "what the hell, it could be fun")...

If Goa/EA Mythic bother to read this...

I'd just like to say that your 7 day idea for free was and is an epic fail. Reason? Try these...

1 Your players bought into your idea for seven years, and this is how you reward them? With less than the standard 14 day free trial that any one can make at any time? I'd say this stinks of nothing more than contempt. You seriously think we are gonna resub to pay your wages when you do sod all for our old servers because the game is now understaffed, undermined by WAR and out of ideas because the staff you employ can't do anything to save the game they love and we did once love.

2 Time constraint. You seriously think that you gave people enough time to even get this around to make this idea a goer? Wrong. The time you gave them to actually play makes you seriously think about whether or not it is worth even bothering given 1.

3 We were promised something would be done about Dyvet, erm yeah sure there will and like it's gonna make any difference anyway, because what needed to be done has been shelved - indefinately; just like that little Roman mmorpg that you were so hyped up about a few years ago and ehm hmm there's a feather duster somewhere in your office.

4 We can see that you want to bleed us dry because of the offer that you tied in with WAR and DAoC. Most of us by now have seen through this gimmick. EA didn't buy into DAoC, it bought into the player base with the anticipation of them jumping ship to WAR along with the new player base potential. This 7 day free thing is nothing more than a ploy on old sentiments, we know it, you know it and everyone else knows it. Oh you got a few more players to play on a dead cluster, whoopeedo, that's a success isn't it? pff Anyone with any brains would say screw it I cba because it's not worth bothering with and in effect it wasn't. But then you both screwed yourselves over on that score didn't you but we won't go into that well documented moment.

And if you call 15 hibs on Friday chasing after one mid like an old episode of Harry Enfield on the footy ground, lined up after the captain of the team in single file chasing after one single spiritmaster a success ie the football for well over an hour just to share that realm points kill, ehm you should consider resigning and getting some medical help or counselling.

Now normally when someone insults my intelligence, not to mention my friends of old I am not normally very kind. But on this occasion I will make an exception because quite frankly in this economic climate you are gonna need it. So here are two solutions if you want your players back.

1 This game is now 7 years old, it's been bled dry as a cash cow, it should by now be free to play for all. Anyone can see the effect and incentive of that idea....

2 If you can't help but want the jingle of dimes, pounds or euros rumbling and chinking that lovely sound in your pockets then at least admit that Codemasters got it right on US servers with lord of the rings online. A one time, lifetime fee for life. That idea was a complete success. $200 for a life time fee for a relatively new game by comparison to DAoC, sounds good business when and if you happen to know that your client base is dwindling. Common sense here also prevails.

You guys already know this game is dead, your pathetic offerings are an insult, your ideas are an epic fail and we ain't paying for any more for you to sit there in GM mode watching other players play all day - in other words fuck all like, taking in our cash and doing nothing further for the game, it's player base or it's old player base. But then, there's always sense in flogging a dead horse then eh?....

Blah blah blah
It's not all about Dyvet you know, try to take your mind off it for a sec and watch the game as a whole. See the german cluster, the game is not at all dead.

It's so pathetic that when GOA does a nice thing for a change ppl still have to whine and bitch about it not being good enough. You sir, sound like a spoiled brat.

With their dreadful bandwidth at GOA there wasn't enough time for people to even download the game in time, personally I probably would have logged in (its free!) if I had enough pre-warning. Downloading the entire game at 20-40 k/s is not exactly encouraging add to that recovering old passwords and what not.

I wouldn't call it a complete fuck up but it clearly wasn't planned, its happened like one of those outings planned in the pub the night before, you get there and are then not really sure why you came or what you are going to do.

I think people just have to accept the fact that DAOC is long dead, its a shame because its streets ahead of WAR both in pve and pvp, a graphical overhaul and a proper re-launch could do it wonders. But as they say, all good things have to come to an end.

I'd rather play the freeshards.. No grinding, much more action and it's free(NOT ONLY FOR 7 DAYS!) To get up to date these days, you need to do shit loads of dragon quests etc. and there won't be any time for proper RvR. A heads up a few weeks in advance(A christmas gift saying "Hey guys, guess what? We're gonna give you week 6 free of charge and we'll even open the account for you! Join the war and have some fun!" would, imo, been sooo much better

Thanks GoA for giving me a chance to log on and see my wizard one last time, I'm thankful for that, but that's about all you've done for the english community the last... 2-3 years or so?

Sure there was, I did.

I'm not really trying to defend GOA (even though I am obviously) but we whining players ain't exactly God's best children either.

You sir sound like context wasn't taught to you in school, try understanding what I said before shooting yourself in the foot. And for your information, regardless of server, all of the players that I spoke to about the whole issue i raised agreed with me.

by time i remember how to play the game it too late. And the fact people are still using buffbots made this even more pointless. lol.

was on about an hour but all people want to do, when you find them, is duel whilst they are fully buffed up. Made running around on a unbuffed caster pointless.. and as my tic isnt melee setup he not to effective against a buffed up tanks :(

Couldn't agree more.

You don't see the Germans or French complaining, why? Becuase they have a stable and productive community.

haha, didnt take long for hibs to break the port and start zerging everyone that dares move.... they probably now moan that the albs wont move from the keep due to their zerging (ad in the stealthers they got around them also just for added bonuses)

So you're saying you ain't whining about GOAs' way of opening up the accounts for 7 days? You sure fooled everyone here.

And I know lots of ppl who don't agree with you so what's your point?

Saying DAoC is dead just cuz' dyvet is. Well that to me is just plain stupid.

I said, and if you read the title of what my post said, it had nothing to do with GOA personally, I had friends in GOA a while back and afaik the ex employees are still my friends. Just because you can't grasp my whole argument, doesn't mean that what I said wasn't valid, nor does it mean because you can't equate it that I was wrong neither. Dyvet was a small point of the context. But then because you are stupid doesn't mean everyone else is to blame for what you quite rightly believe to be your correct opinion. I made my point, I feel no need to reiterate it.
