Hello,

If I cast a damage over time spell and cast another one right after. Is the effect cumulative or is there no meaning to cast another one until the first one has done its damage?

Hope for an answer

recasting a DoT overwrites the previous one you cast. So the effect of recasting is just doing another tick of dmg a bit ealier, and finishishing a bit later...if that makes sense :)

I think the DoTs on cabbys and BDs are different type of dmg, hence you can stack them (correct me here). Shammys only get 1 type, so its not stackable. Basically, cast 1, wait 15 seconds (average 4 sec cast time) recast.

think its an other spec line(correct me if im wrong on anything of this) my mana ment can cast both specline mana ae dot and baseline mentalism dot and ofc they stack :D suckdamage tho, altho albs dont like when i spam mgs with dots :wij:

the cabalist spec is in same line as the baseline one, but due to casters (as in proper casters) having 2 lists for spec and baseline i think thats what allows it to stack, with shammy baseline and spec are together (also shammy only get 1 single target dot, so kinda makes sense that it doesnt stack with the ae :) )

Baseline DoTs stack with specline dots.

Even if both DoTs are Matter damage, it's the difference between Base- and Specline.

bones aedott stack whit shammys aedott.
bones baseline dott stack spec line dott + aedott
(hmm didnt test aedott thou but so i had image this)
hmm but specline aedott and dot dont stack.

thidraki mine ba bones aedott was ticking ~24dmg per tick (add here shammys aedott), single dotts when stacked ~90
(dont again sure this, long time when play, aedott anyway is correct)

shammys basedott dont stack whit specline dott, or aedott.
shammy can use only 1 dott type, not stack like example cabby, or weak stack like ba bone.

Not the case for shammies, though. They only have a spec AE DoT and a base single DoT, but they do not stack (as already mentioned).

Anyway, for cave shammies the main reason to cast another DoT is to interrupt. Only the first tick of a DoT interrupts and because shammies have a 20 sec timer on their dd/bolt they have no other way of damaging+interrupting than to spam DoTs. Another reason is to get a better crit (but keep in mind that DoTs have 0% base chance to crit, you need the Wild Arcana realm ability to make DoTs crit).

the simple answer is yes, dots stack.

you cast baseline dot, then specline dot.
2 spec, or 2 base will not stack.

some realms benefit with different casters able to stack baseline, can;t think off the top of my head which classes, but e.g. might be druid and mentalist baseline will stack.

Your spec aoe is the same as spec single dot. but again, it's possible to stack with other classes - depends on the type of dmg being done.

Shaman single dot is body, ae-dot is matter. About the stacking thingie I guess it's a caster thingie. None of the shaman dots are stackable.
