Cycloptic Shield Enc

Morning All!

Just saw the post for GoV and thought I would ask nicely if anyone goes for the Cyclop Shield quest and has a free spot they could give me a whisper (Kristana). Been going to this quest every day for the last 3 weeks (when I back from work at 6:30pm GMT) and its always down. Dont need arti or any scrolls just to kick Kerton's arse.

Many thanks in advance to anyone who can/will help and I will be more than happy to return the favour by assisting that person with any quest or xp using either 50-Rej Cleric/50-Necro and a 50BB.

you do know the encounter is located @ 2 spots.. its not only kertom site.

there is a 2nd place where it is when the cyclopses have the shield its close by in the woods, just look it up @ www.visionofsages.com

btw cyclops is shit to lvl its awfully slow imo get a replacement or make yourself rdy for a week of leveling it.

Ye I know about the other spot on the hill, I always check it at the same time. Atm I use a Magma Infused Heater Shield but for the template I will need cyclops.. even if its going to take ages to lvl it up >_<

mmmm v strange, it is possible I am looking in the wrong place? The place I go is the floating tower with a spiral walk way leading up, there are 2 stone archers at the top (purple to 50) which agro if you get close. Some red con statues are standing around also. Never seen Kerton so wouldnt know what to look for altho was told he is visable from the ramp. Do you need to kill all the neutral cyclops at the base of the tower to make him spawn or is he hanging around smoking a B&H waiting for ppl? the other 1 eye dudes kleps and klops i never see at their loc on VoA website although there is a purple con wondering near by with 2 x red con guards (cant remember name tho). Maybe he can give me enc?

If you kill the cyclopses at the bottom the archers/statues won't come to life and you can kill Kertom easier (and get the shield - not sure if it's 100% drop rate though)

If you leave the cyclopses alive at the bottom you have to fight the adds and a cyclops will attack you when you come back down... If he kills you he gets the cyclops eye shield (or possibly gets a second shield - my merc didn't lose his when we tried this) and runs off - Kleps and Klops appear about 5 mins later who you can kill to get the shield back (and some nifty trophies)

ahhhh oki thx details , at least now I know for sure I am going to the right area, tbh after so many tries i was begining to think i had totally screwed up lol. I tested the water by trying to solo the red cons at the bottom of the ramp but didnt have all day to kill one mob so had to drop out, hopefully some one will shout me next time they are passing through, and then its back to the Humberton Inn for some beers on me

awww man I getting to the point where I think.. either this enc is bugged or the boss is stealthed lol I camped just out of agro range of archers from 7:30pm until 12:30am.. I even checked at 6pm when I got back from work. Each time my char dropped from ld I re logged. I was solo so no chance to kill mob but just wanted to get a look at this twat Kerton and at 12:30 I log out for sleep, then come back 7:30am to check if hes back.. nope. Maybe some one has a screenie then can post or even Kerton's flight number for the plane he must have taken to Hawaii so I can track him down

Are you sure you know what to look for when the encounter is up?

tbh I dont.. I never seen the main con b4 so I can only guess he is bigger than all the other mobs on the platform. Its annoying cos you cant select the statues until they are active so cant get their names, but for sure I dont know what he looks like and its possible I am staring him in the face and dont know it. 2n8 I will take a screenie of what I can see and post it.. then perhaps you could tell me if enc is down or do I need to go specsavers and buy some glasses

If there's a mob standing in the middle of the archers on the platform, it's up (I think). Believe if archers shoot at you, it's down.

its 100% AFAIK.
as long as the mob is holding the shield its a drop.

You can recieve an item in one of two ways. The monster can either have a script to give you the item when a certain trigger event occcurs (usually the monster's death), or it can drop as loot. If it drops as loot there is always a random chance involved, if it's scripted it can be random or guaranteed.
The random chance for loot drops can be very, very high (as much as 999/1000) but it can never be absolutely guaranteed. All guaranteed drops are given through scripts, everything else has a chance - however small - of not dropping.

hmmm for sure there is no mob in middle of archers, only a big brown rock behind them and when I get close archers kick my arse -.- I keep trying though who knows... maybe if I sit on Kertons door step long enough he'll come out and tell me to fek off

if archers shoot at you it's because the cyclopses at the bottom are still alive.

Kertom is just a grey statue - not that much bigger than the others. When you get to the top of the ramp he's just down to the right.

And I think the Cyclops Eye drop is a scripted one rather than a standard drop (it gets placed on the ground separate to the other drops)

Just out of interest is Kerton selectable before the cyclops at the bottom of ramp are dead?

Felt the urge to help you so here it is...

Kertom can be conned from below when you stand abit left from the ramp and looking upwards. He is a (ofc ) Prpl con named statue allways connable if he is up, he is standing in the middle of the free space one can see from below so you run up to the floating island after a fast walk trough the woods, check if you see a big statue guy and go kill all cycs downramp before going up or just go back to your pub. The archers on top abit bugged sometimes as you cant rely on them not agroing you AFTER the encounter is done or BEFORE you killed all cycs downramp.
The cycs downramp have NOTHING to do in making him spawn but you have to kill them to make sure to not get archer agro whilest moving upramp to Kertom. Useally, but werent online the last weeks, encounter was up at around 6-8 am cet if not farmed by some random Nerd like me .

So, good luck in doing it, seeing you have a necro/BB you can solo it as i did easy enough even w/o fop.

wOOt thx faya, that confirms 100% enc is down for me each time. I will know for sure when he there if I can select
Only prob is my necro + cleric who need enc are on same acc (hence me asking for some help killing), but if ur passing by and see enc is up and feel like another shield to sell then holler me and I would gladly assist
Gona check when I home in a couple hours to see if its up.. but i dont hold much hope

ye I was talking to some other dude who also wanted the enc, he has asked for the quest to be checked to see if its bugged. Such a cheap arti and not rly much point in farming it like others.. rly stumped on this one

Golden Scarab Vest isnt an drop artefact. Its a script 1. uve 2 talk 2 an npc uve 2 farm some Scarab wings and u get gloves 2 pick up Vest.
