Custom maps on BW servers

Basically this is just a request to BW to get some different maps on...

Since the demise of NGUK i particulally miss Insalubrius, and urge BW and other server admins to include this great map onto their servers...

If anyone else agrees feel free to post here, or if you have any other map selections post below...

I know i would prefer to see Insalubrius than Desicator any day...!

Whenever these map start, a map change vote always ensues.

Please put Insalubrious into the rotation, and some of the new maps.

Peeps are getting very bored with the basic maps that are in rotation.

Do not let Tribes 2 die, it is truly a wonderful teambased fps, and deserves attention, and a bit of tender loving care.
So don't just leave the servers the way they are, put some heart into it, and give us some satisfaction, and maybe even surprise us.

:clap: Respect due to BW for having so many Tribes 2 servers, so please let's get some of the better non-standard maps into rotation. Some of the standard maps are pitifully awful - particularly recalescence. Insalubrious should definitely be on there, so please add it, because I for one am getting mightily bored of the vanilla maps.

The custom maps servers rotation could do with an overhaul - best way to get this to happen is to post a thread in the Game Servers forum with a request and some links.

There's already a thread in there asking to drop Recal and Thin Ice, for example.

First off all thanks to BW for providing us in the UK with some decent T2 servers.

Hopefully BW can stop this brilliant team FPS from going into a decline.

A lack of variety in maps is beginning to take effect, with map votes taking place all to often.

Everyone has got their favs and worst maps, but i urge BW to look at the more popular maps and integrate some new maps every so often. Keep it different and keep people interested.

I agree Insalubrius would be a worthy addition to the BW servers, as its a gorgeous map with plenty to keep everyone happy pilots, defense, snipers are all catered for...

Come on BW surprise us!

Lets get some custom maps in rotation, I am fed up of voting everytime Recalesence, and Dessicator show their ugly mugs.
Those 2 maps are well past their sell by date.

Insulibrius is ok, dont mind it,

1 of those new maps in the dynamix map pack is excellent, so ive opted to promote that ;)

For some reason BW3 is now a custom map server,...

This is a mistake.

Custom map servers are almost always empty, you put a custom map server out and people will, for the most part, ignore it.

NGUK however had the right frame of mind when they introduced only the best custom maps into the map cycle. The only 2 Custom maps i can honestly say are worthy of the map cycle *i.e. are both fast paced and dont empty the server* is insalubrius and Big Rocks.

Hive was referring to Pantheon, a map that is similair to Reversion but much harder to defend against. It is a very good map and i highly recommend adding it to the rotation of at least 1 server. I dont know many people who didnt download the final map pack and the few servers ive seen that rotated to pantheon hardly lost any players at the switch, in fact i think i attracted more players who wanted to play on that map (i believe it was an EA server).

Thin Ice and Recal need to go. Archipelago is fine, i have alot of fun both attacking and defending on that map.

I dont think many people would argue about NGUK's success with a Kata only server, a service i think BW should ressurect.

Big up to BW for everthing they do for gaming, but they seriously need an admin for T2 that actually playes the game and would enjoy making the players happier with customizing the servers. This "remove Recal" plea has been going on forever.

Am I right in thinking Ocean Floor is running on the main servers? I`m all for trying new maps but maps like that are noveltly value for lan games only and shouldn`t be on a main server cycle.

im a BW admin (oooh touch me im special) & i play on bw servers A LOT, infact its all i play on. What im consistantly seeing is people getting pissed off soon as they see a custom map load up. Desparate attempts to vote map change take place etc etc

We need to sort this out ASAP

I say give it time, its because they are new (to everyone) and peeps don't like change.

In a month I think you will get a bigger and better picture on whats a good map and what is not.

well imo the custom maps are utter sh1te!!

the ONLY good custom maps i have seen are in the unmap pack.

a collection of the best custom maps altered for T2 league/ladder play.
Only downside is they are client side . i think.

Ahem :)

Quick update tho:

Natrat's looked at it and has passed it onto Deathace to check because there didn't seem anything wrong with the database. Marauder has confirmed the previous map rotation so it's just waiting to be fixed.

I'll keep prodding.

Can i just ask we dont remove big rocks from the rotation, this map is a classic, even for public play, had some amazing games on this level over the last few weeks and itd be a shame to see it go, the other custom maps are distinctly average.

I had a look at the map pack metric mention and there are some real gems in there, the bioderm mining level though, while looks good seems like a very tough level to cap on, they rest seem fast paced though.

Just a suggestion...

Maybe a way to get people to play some custom maps is add one or two in the lists on to a few servers and to organise them so they are spread out.

Then make the custom map time limit shorter in length, say 10-15 mins so peeps who don't particually like the map don't get too bored, but still leave the option to extend the map time.

Getting a message across to the community for feedback on the new maps should help to establish which are more popular than others.

Then these popular maps could be kept on for a while again depending if they have continued popularity...
