Lies!!

They used to be but they have sorted that out with the new RS4.

Audi pwn BMW

Nah Trem, the RS4 is still nose heavy with the engine forward of the wheels.

Edit; not saying it's a bad car, i rather love it; just ain't as well balanced as Bavaria's finest. imo. :)

Anyway, you're all forgetting the new C63 estate:

1. That merc, like all merc estates, is fucking ugly and needs to be dropped off a cliff.

2. Beemers, are beemers. They'll never look nice or be particularly brilliant.
And I'm afraid I'd have to side with Deebs on this one - I'd rather have a decent Audi. Hell, I'd have a Skoda VRS over a Beemer.

ps : above merc - have they been borging the designers from scubaru? notably the front end.

LOL@kryten.

I think the problem with that merc above is that someone already dropped it off the cliff!

Heh, I actually like the looks of the new C-Class; it looks nice and chunky, not like the half-melted look of other recent Mercs. I just don't like the Mercedes philosophy of just sticking the biggest possible engine in to get the horsepower.

I love the way people argue about cars they've probably never driven nor likely are they to drive them.

Big powerful estates like those discussed aren't really my preference. I'll have the open 2-seater every time tbh.

Well ofcourse someone has to mention this:

volvo_s80_fs1.jpg

The S80 V8.

It may not be as classy as the mercedes, or have the handling of an Audi...but it IS a volvo.

And that, is probably the only reason to buy it. You can always, no matter what gizmos, powers, bhp or whatnot you're talking about, say...but it's a volvo.

Which, sadly, might work against you too :D

Ofcourse it's no 2-seater with the wind blowing through your hair, or a mercedes that makes every blonde wet their panties, or even an Audi beast that can outrun the local police force with the 1st gear on a nice bendy road...

But while it's not "special" in a sense, it's good in every aspect. It's just a good car.

Not really. There are loads of cars that are better for similar money or less. No way would I spend nearly fifty grand on a Volvo.

Ahh, alas it happens. I was waiting for a twat like yourself to post something akin to that, I was actually expecting brooky to pipe up, but gratz you beat him to it. Having owned three beemers (one was M powered), driven an M3 and an Audi (not the RS4); I do have a bit of an idea on what I'm talking about.

That said, I don't need to fuck you in the ass Wazz to know i'm not going to like it, a bit like most of us don't like that Merc but i'm sure it's a beast (i love it personally).

There might/are better cars, doesn't mean that it's a bad car. It is, as it is, a good one, even if not "the best". Just thought it would be worth a mention.

I agree, it wouldn't be my first choice either, but it is an option and one that might be tipped in someones favor due to "personal" taste.

Like to some, volvo is that old box car from the past, to some it means safety. Those are the "personal" things that can't be really discussed.

Then we get into the whole bmw, volvo, audi, which i LIKE dicussion, tune ups, how well you find spare parts etc. Which kinda moves away from the main point.

Personally, i think one of the good points of it is that it's so "normal" that it doesn't stand out. If you see one in the street, you won't probably look twice as it blends in. It can be a good or bad thing, i know.

I used to have a 2.0 estate :), and then a V70 2.5. Great cars, utter bargains.

So the UK is a bit "anti-volvo" it seems :D

But how do you feel about the Chrysler Crossfire?

Personally, i'm coming on my own face over this:

Ok, I know you all hate it already, and yes that colour is shit. But that chassis is fucking immense, coupled with a three litre twin turbo, 305 bhp. 0-62 in 5.3 seconds? That's bonkers. Apparently that engine chips to 375 bhp. In a tiny 1 series?!

Isn't it stupidly expensive for what it is though?

That seems like quite a lot for a hot hatch tbh. That said, I'll freely admit that I know fuck all about this sort of thing.

It certainly ain't cheap.

But to put it into perspective, it's as quick as the older E46 M3 (which was £40k when it came out iirc) and more powerful than a Boxster S which would skin you £42k.

Coupled with cheaper servicing than both, and a considerable step up from "hot hatch" territory, it's probably priced just right. Residuals probably won't be good, so you'll get one a year old for about £24k.

Still, when all's said and done I'd personally not want to spend that much money on a car like that. I'd rather get a 1 year old 350z for that/possibly even cheaper.

On paper the 135i looks fucking brilliant. Can't get past the looks though. The coupe is a bit nicer than the hatch though. I have to admit, I'd still consider it, but the 135i isn't out until next year and I need to order a car now. Reckon the Audi S3 is looking favourite at the moment, and it may prove to be the logical choice living in London if the newt-worrier gets his way about C02 tolls.
