Lol, I did a search for my name and google gives 100's of hits that link to FH but Cuil doesn't register a single hit. So much for 120 billion pages.

I typed in "English National Opera Company" into Cuil. Gave me loads of links about cheap domain names! What a gyp ! Typed the same into Google, very first web site was for the ENO. I think I'll stick with Google.

Dont know where the beeb got their info from but cuil isnt gaelic/irish for "knowledge and hazel" but is transtlated into goal (like in football)

Pretty crap,is much slower than google and it don't even manage to find anything with Diablo 2 searchword and more than 1 searchword totally kills it.

I dont like it....and this is why.

You know when you goto a website, but you fuck up the url....let say www.odeonn.co.uk and you get some retarded page saying "did you mean these websites 'penis enlargement' 'child sex'" etc etc.

That's what it looks like. It just looks like the page it loads is a nasty page full of viruses lol

Its incredibly slow.

It did seem to do a much better job when I tried my name.

Google bring up 20,600 websites. The first page is mostly about me but very quickly it becomes rubbish. That's one thing I dislike with google, if it isn't on the first page its probably not been found.

Cuil bring up 72 and from looking through them most of them are indeed related to me.

If the speed improves it might well be a search engine which is useful for some searches.

You misunderstand, if I am searching for a product review I get 10,000 fucking affiliate sites trying to sell me the product using google. I can wade through dozens of pages before getting what I want, an actual independent review. Affiliate links are adverts any way you shake it.

how do you refine a search if it doesnt find the things in the first place

thing is it does find the things, earlier today Kryten searched for quakenet and overclockers and got no results. Try them now.

Its a chilean volcano eruption, picture taken quite recently afaik, but there isnt a high res one out there last time I checked. Shame, its a stunning image.

And I remember when you had to lycos or yahoo something to get results, hell there was a whole phase were people actually asked Jeeves!

google did not grow so large overnight, it has taken many a year to get as big as it is now.

yep that is true, but it still did better than its competitors
which is why it became so popular

This on the other hand, does nothing better but a fair few things worse
