Rotterdam is ok Vertigo is a a pile of steaming excrement. Only thing good about the map is falling sound. Oh, and it's WAY too CT biased

Im glad there getting rid of both maps... dot like them at all. Rotterdam is very claustraphobic, and vertigo is just a bad design.
The new map 'torn' looks amazing...

How exactly do they go about "removing" the maps, i mean, they can't tell the installer to delete de_rottendan.bsp in the update patch can they?

You really do have rotten turds in your skull. they aren't removed. They are taken off the server map rotation, and hence if the servers are left as standard they will never reappear/be played

Yes they could, but they wont.

There are reasons for this. I am going to explain them but Dan2k (hoho oh dear at my typo) I dont expect u to understand them.

While we may be upgrading from cs version x.x and have many of the older maps, there are thoose that have CS retail, they have trouble enough joining the server as it is.

Basically all new player wont know or have the older maps, thus the amount of players that can join a server playing non standard maps is limited. It alienates hordes of players.
