You tell me how many escape missions are played in clan matches then. NONE. I'm not saying play Oilrig in a clan match, I'm saying keep it in the public server rotation, cos I get sick and tired of playing Dust, Assault etc.

There are many levels underappreciated and I have seen there is a huge fanbase out their for the likes of Oilrig, even Tundra, hence being the reason they are still in V1.

Oilrig has been in CS for a hell of a long time, and I hate to see it get taken out because of all these newbie deathmatch loving dust likers.

Did you not read what i said? Oilrig is a worse deathmatch than dust, at least with dust there is some attempt to completet hte mission objectives, and even newbies will work with teammates i.e the point of the game. Oilrig degenerates into some terrors with awp's and the rest with ak's rushing, the CT's either camp to get frags or go seperate ways, the VIP does not want to be the VIP and usually does not bother with the objective or has no cover. So whats the point?
I never said anything negative about all hossie maps, although highrise aint great, its smaller size makes it more playable than oilrig. Tundra is actually a good VIp map, although they need to replace the awm with a scout on that map to stop it becoming a snipe fest. Tundra is the only VIP map on publics that I have seen people use tactics on.
You sound like you love deathmathces to me, or you would not be playing oilrig on a public.

I always want to be the VIP on Oilrig, because I fucking 0wn at it (for some reason give me a Colt, full body armour etc and I'll get cut down in 10 seconds, but give me the VIP and his USP and I'll carve my way through 4 or 5 terrorists). Oilrig is a fantastic level if you know how to play it.

Let me get this straight, I never said i was crap at oilrig. Its too easy too get loads of kills, but its a pointless map cause no one bothers with mission objectives, the VIP is hardly ever gaurded and the terrors just go on a mad rush (maybe if they are lucky one will stay and awp). Its a frag fest, get as many kills as you can by choosing the most popular route. This level promotes no team play at all, and whats the point if it does not? Only way team play would be used is if it was a clanwar, and as has already been said that aint going to happen. Even the most fragtastic of other CS maps (yes even office) manage to promote some team play on public servers.

I like Oilrig as both T and CT, but i think its spawning points need seriously redoing.

Once they get sorted, then it will be a much better map.

Deathmatch newbies, jesus m8 most if not all the best cs players were, or are still deathmatchers. If your team just plain stinks, there is little point in holding with the team when there total crap. When i played cs, and was on such a team that was getting slaughterd every round, i took my mp5 in hand and legged it ran through the nme, got 5-6 of um, making my team stand a chance of actually winning the round, you might call it deathmatching or whatever, but sometimes it's the only way. personaly i would like now to see the personal scores droped, so called team games will never be as such as long as they remain. You only have to look at a FA map called Woods for a prime example, the object is to destroy the NME crates for which you score either 15-20 points, can't remember from the top of my head which, but due to a nasty oversight from the mapper, all you have to do is destroy your own crate to score, the amount of people that do this is total bollox, just so they can get a big score:p

CS v1.1

60 Mega-ton thermonuclear warheads with high-energy plasma discharge cannons, 800 pound fragmentation grenades and a coffee making machine at the spawn sites...

ok ok, so maybe not the coffee machine... ;)

seriously thou, how about a timer for all the dead people which counts down the time remaining on a planted bomb..so you could all be like "whoa, dude (if you're from the US) you had 0.001 seconds left...you jammy tart!"

If it were to be used, maybe live people could also see it?

dunno..just a thought..

good/bad/crap idea?

confucious say "back in 5 minutes"

firstly LOL.

There used to be a sound file that u copied over the existing bomb sounds, it replaced it with a vocal countdown. I suppose it was cheating, in a way.

My mate made a really good CS level, where the building the terrors spawned in had a courtyard with a bomb in it. I dont know how he did it, but the bomb could only take so much fire and then it would explode. However the blast radius was massive and it killed all the hossies and most of the players. Very fun to play though.

countdown.

Ch3tan...I've got a vocal sound file...weird thing is...mine counts up!..in increments of 5..sounds like the woman's voice from the original HL...man...my computer needs an enema..

How about a new voice command "I'm on my way"...ok.."Need Backup" can be replied to with "Affirmative/Roger that", but most people just keeping running the other way...must have been something I said ;)

confucious say "If aardvark wont fit, try deflating.."

Ideas

I reckon the Tear-Gas thing would work, it would last longer than a flashbang, but you could just about see, perhaps a rippling effect on the screen.

As for a new MG, I reckon it would work. An M60 would kick ass, but you gotta deploy it - say 5 secs to deploy and pack up. It means if there's a choke-point you can cover it with an M60, but the shooter couldn't move, or the gun couldn't move and the player could...but would be without a main weapon. Heh, even the enemy could use it against the guys who bought it.... hmm :)

I reckon the NVG's are pretty useless. In militia, the range isn't big enough for all the way down the tunnels...and there's no real maps where it's dark enough to need NVG's. A map when NVG's would be useful would be cool :)

The AWP is waaay too powerful. Ok, it's a sniper rifle, one shot usually kills someone. But perhaps it could be toned down a bit e.g taking 90 health off. This means if someone's already injured they'd die, but a fully cured trooper wouldn't die.
OR
Slow down the reload time of the AWP.

Just a few suggestions. Take em out or leave em in, I'd still play CS :p

Setting up a covering M60 or whatever is pointless, in real life it's the first thing to do, but in CS big no no. In CS you hold and fire and most of the rounds go into orbit, this should allways be the case with a rushing para/m60 imho, but not when prone[FA] or crouching. sad fact is, out would pop a aug, colt, or whatever, any rifle, and take you down before you even see it coming. In real life, there ain't Shit chance you would run out into the fire of a lsw, but in CS, if your at any range but real close, why the hell not, there little chance of your actually droping, unless there's a lucky hit.

What about a plastic explosive (timed or radio operated) you can put on certain doors or walls to gain extra entry points in certain t strong hold maps like assault.

Nice idea, You could have a small explosive device that knocks out a door so you can place it then blow it up (and the door) and run in guns blaseing. SWAT3 Stlyee.

I'm fed up with people like u whining on about the AWM. The AWM is a perfectly balanced weapon and should be left the hell alone.

Firstly it's expensive compared to other guns, which is justifiable because of the weapons supreme range and effectiveness. The fact that somebody has an AWM means they've earned the right to it. Secondly the AWM reload times are slow already. If somebody with an AWM misses their first shot they are then extremely vulnerable. If they manage to get off another shot it's only because you didn’t do your job killing them the first time.

So before anybody whines on about the AWM again my suggestion for CS 1.1 is that they try and improve slightly how the body armour takes damage. God knows I’m fed up of finding myself dying when I’ve got over 75% armour left.

vip sceptics

Its official nearly everybody hates it when as a ct on a roll you become the vip and get your ass shot up by terrorists who appear out the woodwork within 5 seconds of spawn (oilrig vent springs to mind).I dont mind being the vip but why not make their life a little better by letting them buy ammo at spawn, its not gonna turn you into a killing machine but it may increase your life expectancy when all your buddies have ran off and been maimed.

just a thought.
