Any idea why?
I know this! It happened to me... but I can't work out how I fixed it. I'm pretty sure the answer was in the manual or the online official support pages. I think it might even be an FAQ.

You can be sure that that's 48 minutes of the highest-quality, compressed silence available.

/edit: I think it was this:
Q. When I extract, the extraction proceed very fast, but when I listen to the resulting files, they are all silent. What did I do wrong?

A. Sometimes EAC will autodetect a wrong read command. In this case it is possible that only silence is returned. Try to manually select a read command. In the Drive Options, go to Read Commands page and select the Read Command MMC1 manually (or any other that works). Test it with burst mode. If you tested all of them, but none of them worked, try to extract with another program like WinDAC or CDEx. If both also fails, make sure that your drive is capable of extracting digital audio at all.

I love you Summo.* Works fine now. It's fucking slow tho. Whilst Audiocatalyst rips at 8x EAC crawls along at 3.5X.

* In a strictly platonic sense.

This is also covered in the FAQ - It rips slowly to get the best possible wav file.

Fairy muff.

I just used to rip the Wipeout 2097 CD. I can now listen to the greatest game soundtrack of all time whenever I want :)

That's 'cause Plextor have the best DAE extraction of any cdroms.

The speed problem with EAC is more due to the compression part than the extraction part. Audiocatalyst does totally waste it in that department. However Audiocat has one minor flaw - the mp3s sound like shit at the end.

These ones Ive ripped with EAC dont sound that much better tbh. I think the main problem is compressed music just generally sounds shit.

You're using the wrong settings then. I ripped all my CDs using audiocat ages ago, and Im slowly going back through them all now and doing them again with LAME. Still not as good as using the original obviously, but a lot more convenient.

The MP3 XPack I got for WMP seems to work well, although it's not free :(

Just been using the encoder in Playcenter, seems really good.

Im really happy with the EAC/LAME route. The problem with freedb.org seems to be due to the proxy settings at work. Works fine at home. :)
