get Exact Audio Copy and then link it to LAME to convert to the actual mp3s. Alternativly, rip to wav then use an Ogg Vorbis encoder since it's actually a lot better than mp3

Windows Media will encode to WMA, which are horrible in stereo, and why use an all in one when the best all in one has already been suggested? Honestly, you people need to think before you post

Yup, that's what I use now after being pointed to it from that last thread.

It rawks, unquestionably and is the best CD to MP3 solution there is, imo.

UT fanboi's will be chuffed to know that UT2K3 uses .ogg for its music format.

Surely though, all UT players don't care about what's best, and will happily settle for some second rate shite...

Why else would they be playing UT? :D

Heh. The new UT is pretty nice though, got my hands on a beta version.

Plays pretty much like you'd expect a sequel to UT to play - IE virtually identical.

Sweet graphics, and a rocking soundtrack though :)

This is also true...

And the physics in UT2K3 are odder than they were in UT.

:uhoh:

Wrong. One is good, the other is commonly reffered to as 'Unreal'; This is correct, considering its shiteness is far behond human comprehension - Who knows what depraved and decrepid creature created it.

OK, done all that, I was surprised at how easy it was, Scooba made it sound awful complicated.

One question though, the cd info (artist, titles etc). When eac tries to connect to Freedb.org, it wont have it. Is there any way of manually transfereing the info from Freedb to eac (other than actually typing it all in)??

Uuh... uuhh... I dunno.

Mine works okay - never had a problem with connecting to the database. Could there be a problem with it at their end?

Also, I CAN'T BELIEVE some people are still having the Unreal vs Quake III debate FIVE YEARS LATER.

Get over it, fellas.

Was that the 923 beta m8 ?

I thought it was pretty crappy tbh :/

The retails product had better be a whole lot better. Probably will, just thought I'd mention it.

Late reply:

I use CDEX with LAME encoder, rips CD's like hell on rockets. Not tried EAC myself, but I know a fair few people who use it and rave about it. :)

Oh, as for the CDDB problems - try using a different server, there are a few of them I believe.

aye CDeX is rather good proggy for ripping CD's, apart from the odd jitter it works perfectly.

Nope, think this one's 927/928, one or t'other.

Still needs a bit of work, but looks to be coming along nicely though.

(History lesson for the memory impaired:

Half Life: November 1998
UT: October 1999
Q3: Dec 17th 1999 (only reason I remember that so well is cos I predicted the exact date 6 months earlier) )

Hmmm. I installed EAC and LAME and proceeded to rip a CD. It managed to rip 48 minutes of silence. Played.

Any idea why?
