CS stalls while loading

Hi

a m8 of mine can't play CS on the internet because it stops loading after 'done precaching resources' and just sits there at the console. it hasn't crashed as he can quit easly, it just doesnt finish connecting/loading. normal half life works fine over the internet, its only CS that fails. he has a p2 350, 64mb of ram, a voodoo 4500 and a rockwell 56k.

anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

This happens to me a lot.

Tell him to type retry in the console if nothing happens. This usually gets it to work, If it still doesn't work then i can't help you

unfortunatly that wouldn't work. i forgot to mention in the first post that his internet connection goes aswell. its not coincidence. always ~20s after the precaching resources is finished

He could try redownloading it but it takes a lot of time and if it stil didn't work, aghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

You could try renaming the CS config.cfg, and then copying the HL config.cfg into the Cstrike directory...just to eliminate any setting errors. It's a long shot, but worth trying

Hell the easiest way to fix, Half life/Counter strike problems, is usually to reinstall both, using the full upgrade patches. Big d/l's soz.

My housemate had a similar problem, although different hardware (ASUS ISDN card and TNT2U). Whenever his machine initialised OpenGL software, it would hang up his terminal adapter. Tell him to try it in D3D, see if it works. If it does, he needs to upgrade his drivers.

A lot of my online game probs were sorted when i d/l'd Det3 drivers for my TNT2

Thats nice mrmustrad but if u bother read his problem u will see that he has a vodoo 4500, i think d/l set3 will give him a few more problems then he can deal with.
