Peoples ego's in CS alternate between making me laugh and making me weep. One day, in the not too distant future probably, it'l all be for nothing.
I read with great interest a post by a guy in the Quakeworld forum the other day. He was basically bowing out of QW after a fair old time of playing it and was probably pretty well known Im guessing as a good player. One thing he said that made me smile was;

The main reason I think for the good times was the lack of the l33t factor. It was'nt everything to have people think you were the best. Whereas now lots of people think they are something if they are good at a game. Think we can all face facts now and see that being the best at quake is worth the square root of fuck all.

Think on it luvs, then try enjoying the game instead of striving to prove your the best all the time. :)

Just not my fault I so will not take point... what's the point in splashing out with tonz of moneyz only to be n00bed! It would be okay if the guys who took me down would then be raped by my teamies... but most of the time my teamies would just die too :(

What that guy says is true though. It would be better to lose the 1337 factor. Everyone believes they're good at one point or another. Everyone always wants to get better ('tis human nature). It's only rare that you find a player who only wants to do well for the team. I admit I'd get pissed off even if my team was winning and I was doing badly. Saying that, I always got the best feeling from making myself AND my team doing well. It's so much easier shooting someone who's shooting at the person NEXT to you and not YOU ;)

Also, like embs said in a thread ages back to a n00b... doesn't matter how good you are... there's always someone out there who can completely wipe the floor with your bum, your mamma's mouth and your dadda's hairy arsed nut sack.

(Heh, remember the time we got schooled Jobs on Dust2 by that m8 of Skyler's? Oh, we were shown pain that day :) I think we were top of T's and only just about pushing 20/20 on the scoreboard)

If CS is a team game, why the hell does everyone get the same old whinge:

"Oi u frag thief, that was mine"

Even when they r on 5H and about to die...

I expect everyone is the same - you see an enemy, you shoot him. Simple as that, after all thats how the team wins.

Yeah, like in UT when you get points in CTF for capturing the flag and returning the flag. As someone else said tho, we would have pillocks fighting over who returns the hossies and who defuses the bomb, we already have the "frag-happy" bunch who ignore planting the bomb to run after someone around a corner only to have about 50 bullets kindly meld with his face from 6 waiting CT's (this happens way too much on prodigy, then the bomb is left in what is literally a death trap)

Excuse me, with friend troubles tonight I am in an incredibly grumpy moaning mood...bah!:(

You can go too far the other way too mind. On DoD Caen2 map you get 5 points for capturing a flag, versus 1 point for killing an enemy. You may as well run past a German to get the flag then get shot, you'd get more points, which is a bit wierd, particularly as it only on that map that they do that.
But yes, there should certainly be say, 2 points in CS for defuseing the bomb, or planting the bomb, or leading the hossies to escape or whatever.

Everyone seems to be forgetting ye old BW stats they ran a while back for a couple of months.

In that it had a good scoring system... you got more points with getting kills with certain weapons (knife, pistols, etc.). Hossie rescues gave you tons, as did merely just touching the hossies. Indeed, bomb defusals gave you lots of points too, much more than just a normal 'frag'.

I liked that table... was relative cheat free and gave a good idea of what kinda players there were on BW.

I mean, a player I won't name got into the top 5 at one point - not because he is 1337 - but because he was a great team player. He was top hossie rescuer and his bomb defusals weren't shabby either! On that score he completely pwnzd some other well known players who had huge scores due to raped frags, but no points due to no team work.

As for me, bwahahaha, I was top for a few moments of wonderful ego boosting. Woohoo! Eat that Jobs! :D

/me sulks at lost stats.

I play it with the team in mind, have done in TFC and do now in CS, seems a shame others are more interested in indavidual score :(

Sunderland is the business...

I was 3rd of the stats when I quit.

Best score was about 32-2, with some of the people posting here against me (Tom, SG, etc)
