TBH, Not all CS players are limited to this type of game, it's just that so mnay CS players are newbies to gaming as a whole.

Yeah Quake is of course 'in yer face' death match compared to the gentle ambushing and camping one's arse off in CS, but on the whole an FPS game is an FPS game. It all comes down to point and clicking.

that can't be too hard can it?

got to disagree there im afraid.theres a big difference between,basically,id games and sierra games.or quake and half life if u want.i been playing rtcw now for a few days and when i went back to cs i couldnt hit a bloody thing.yet my q2 play tonight has been pretty good!
theres a big difference in the delay between aiming and firing in the two different games.wouldnt say one was necessarily harder than the other ,just different.
oh,and yes lots of cs players are utter n00bs to online fps games,but that's not there fault is it? :)

yes it can. Most CS players are shit at TFC, and TFC isn't even a fast paced game compared to anything Quake styled.

Most CS players(who aren't used to anything else):
Don't know the importantance of jumping.
Don't know the importance of TeamPlay.
Can't hit anything while moving(In Q2 or something as CS has no guns that allow this).
Don't understand that fast reaction aiming is essential to any game, and that people who aim stupidly fast aren't aimbotters.
Can't understand the concept of an objective.
Have their Configs setup so they can't strafe at the same time as moving forwards/backwards with any ease.

And i'm good at TFC, and i'd say i'm fairly good at CS also.

Can play Quake 2/3 and CS without any trouble. I must admit it's a bastard without strafe jumping in CS. I find that I jump around like a fool on valium in CS after a particularly strenuous game of Q3 freezetag.

However, the Scout in CS is so much like a railgun it's quite silly now, and with random hs flying all over the place I can't see CS being too hard a switch.

In the old betas I must admit there was a skill to learning each gun's recoil burst (AK47 in beta 6.5... 'nuff said!) but now it's just spray and pray. saying that though, the amount of times flick railing actually works in CS makes one wonder how different it is when it comes to firing off that first shot.

I can see the difference between these games and say, Operation Flashpoint (which just utterly ownzzz), but I reckon at the end of the day it comes down to ability to aim using a mouse. If you can't do that then 'tis a pity indeed.

I'm not arguing that there aren't different playing styles to each and every game (imagine playing Max Payne like Quake - lol) but what I am saying is that in the end if does come down to the all important 'can you hit that target over there' syndrome. Doesn't matter if its a shotty in Q3 or a shotteh in CS, if you can't put the crosshair over the target, you is dead :)

cool - no flames. one of the great things about cs and other fps team games (that have tight maps) is everybody can play without the fear of being called Lame, being a cs n00b i see new things all the time and also get to spec. a bit to :) thus viewing much more of the game from both sides, seeing in the most part skilled and clever team play. yes all the fps games are totally different but the same, if your playing ppl online

Hey i started on HL DM then moved up to TFC then went into rainbow six and avp multi and then on to CS. My gaming has involved. Everyone has a different story

i came from qwtf to tfc with a bit of q2 then cs and q3

i find being able to rail in q3 helps with awping in cs
and some of the simple outwitting manouvers performed in cs can help in q3

but true the average cser will be pap at q3
the average cser is pap at cs :)

cs is more forgiving, a newbie can fire his p90 automatically at some enemies and perhaps get a kill.
where as in q3 the newb starts trying to rocket a high skilled player who strafes around with the red armour/megahealth and canes the newb..

a new player has more chance in cs than in q3
therefore cs has more lower skilled players

as for tfc, top clan play in tfc can be very very fast ;)

All of this is irrelevant. The fact is, cs is the most popular online game ever. This isn't down to 'n00bs' or cheaters, but because the game is REALLY BLOODY ENJOYABLE. I don't think I'll ever tire of cs.

Q3 is very impressive, but not very interesting. Everyone just shoots the shit out of everything, where's the mind-games, the humour, the strategy?

There are tactics to Q3:

Have the biggest gun.
Have the most armour.
Have the lowest ping.
AND WAPPP THOSE FRAGZ!

Simple really :rolleyes:

Oh yeah, and if yer name is Blokey or Blue (etc.) then you have the ultimate tactics hand down :)

am I the only person who prefers UT to that shite lame excuse for a game Q3? I played it once and just deleted it from my hard drive coz it sucked so much.

I prefer UT to Quake 3, but I got Urban Terror for Q3 and it kicks arse.

i will quash the q3 v UT argument right now..

install UT and q3
load UT
get in multiplayer against bots or whatever
run jump and strafe, oh no whats that do you fly through the air in the most hideously sickening pathetic worthless lame way possible?
yes you do

now run q3
run jump strafe, generally move around a bit, oh look you dont fly in some stupid way in q3.


q3 'feels' better than UT

UT is just a spray fest nothing skillfull about it
just a basic shoot em up
best gun + most spam = winnar

q3 is more about getting powerups and dominating the map while actually aiming:p

ill prolly get slated by ut lovers for this... but tbh UT = a pile of steaming pap

it was good for a while, the assault mode is great but after a very short while it gets boring, guns are boring, movement sucks, graphics are nice but q3 still looks better... etc etc.

oh and as for cs
it r0x :)

i am a Shock whore....and thats classed as shitter than a BIO rifle........unless thats a bug.

well ne way.....its no where near the biggest gun.

Ne way....its all about opinions so im not gonna disrespect urs about UT....

I think Q3 is a heap 'o' poo.....ive got it but dont play it.

You is so wrong! I'm shite at UT... well ok'ish with sniper gun thingy, but with anything else I'm just poop. I think it's because I can't stop laughing at the silly graphic engine.

its good for a little while on assault mode, then it becomes tedious....
