Just thought Id share some observations of the unconfirmed variety.

Why is it that as an ADSL user pinging at sub 40, I have trouble hitting anything but as soon as Im downloading something in the background and my ping goes up to 90 then I can't miss? Is this a psycological thing or is there a reason?

Why is it that some people go full auto with the AK and Colt and still get head shots frequently. I played with some of the sh33ps and they choose the more logical semi-auto route?

Why is it that de_Torn is still on the map rotation? Everytime it comes on everybody buggers off!

Why did BW switch cheat detection systems? CS Guard doesn't seem to be catching anybody compared to the previous version and it seems there is a prevalance of cheating of one form or another? I was on BW1 and one guy was even shouting about a cheat that easily got past CS Guard - and was proud of it. Unfortunately I never got an admin in time being useless at getting to an IRC channel within CS.

Why? Why? Why?

Do you have prediction on or off? Most people will tell you, a LPB is best with it off, as it really screws around with your shots.
Can't remember the commands, but soemthing like
cl_lc 0
cl_cw 0

Torns been gone for two days from the popular rotation and the popular rotations only, we offer servers with the full rotation because wether you like it or not others may.

CS guard runs better than the previous software that was running.

Thanks Alberto and Ch3tan, shame about the cheat protection and good news about de_torn (gorgeous to look at but no personality). Still having problems with the ping thing though ...

TipTop, like Ch3t's said Torn is gone from pop. maps where I see you play most m8y ;)

As for the hitting you prolly have your config. set to cater for above the 50-60 ping (don't ask me what the commands are or what it should be like... Buffy does all that crap in the house! Either that or it's all psychological :p ).

As for spraying and burst firing... it depends on your style of play I guess. A lot of n00bs like to spray and pray, and with the easiness of getting a hs since the patch it works a hell of a lot (i.e. Jobs.............. *cough - cough* Oh the irony of that last observation ;) ).

Burst firing is wonderful with any of the rifles (aug, sig, m4, ak). However, burst firing with something like an MP5 is just going to get you dead. I've seen you play anyways and you burst fire most of the time... get good scores and are a good team player, so what're moaning about...! Pffft, some people! :D

Thats mighty kind of you to say Dolly (especially as the boss man is reading the thread - lo Korn) maybe you could add something like "Best CS player ever - Always Ownz me", just an idea :D

So Buffy where are U, I need your help then m8 (either that or a head doctor). Just trying to get better as a player (especially with the stats that came out) and try and stop Jobbie handing my behind to me on a plate.

CS guard acually is working better than jedi and the various other anti-cheats we had installed. Cathcing OGC is the hardest thing and none of them seem to do it very well.

Hmmm never heard of this prediction thingy, this and only this would explain why Dolls is better than me:p could someone please post the correct(if albertos aint)command to turn it off please.

Felt I had to stand up in defence of torn - it's a good, varied map. The variety of approaches available to the terrorists means CTs have to be flexible in their approach and quick to react to calls for backup and blips disappearing off their radar - both good teamplay skills (ditto voice comms if anyone bothers with them).

each to there own, i tried this and couldnt hit shit, felt like i was playing on jolt, full clips and hitting nowt

dont believe every thing you hear about this config,

me personally found it cack

i have

cl_lw 1
cl_lc 1
cl_nopred 1
rate 7500
cl_updaterate 40
cl_cmdrate 55

works fine for me, especially on bw, bullets actually go were i want them,

but try everything, i did, find a config u like and stick with it :)

Well, if you played with prediction off, it wouldn't take long for you to get the feel for it, especially with a LPB conn. Ask throdgrain, he's been experiancing this after playing Wolfy and Q2.

Playing with prediction off means that everything is calculated server side, so you only see gun fire, hits and blood that actually happen. Not that your client thinks has happened animated and then doesnt happen because the server disagrees.

I'm on cable btw. Wouldn't recommend using nopred unless your on cable.

Well i just tried it and i couldn't hit a barn door, put it on cl_lw 1 etc and i did ok, could be me or it could be the setting, or it could be that i was on Demon cause BW players lie in on saturdays:p

I found this while browsing around, may make it clearer:

cl_lc 0 = off, 1 = enable lag compensation (if server enables with sv_unlag 1)

cl_lw 0 = off, 1 = enable client-side (lagless) weapon animations and sounds. If 1, weapons animation and sounds will fire instantly, but the real shot must be acknowledged by the server to happen, so animation/sounds may not match server reality. Leave on (1) if you have lag compensation on (cl_lc 1).

cl_nopred 0 = off, 1 = on. Disable client-side prediction (1 may increase lag)

Man, this config stuff is harder than U think. Ive tried a few combinations now and Jobbie's right about turning it all to 0, has to be tried for a 'novel' CS experience. ADSL is funny with this stuff and Im working on my first proper config in 2 years of CS.

I did do one thing thing that's helped me improve and that's get an optical mouse. Then again it could all be psychological (i.e. Bugger, Ive just spent all this money on a new mouse so it better bloody make me a L337 haX0r)

This could get interesting ...

I may nick Jobbie's config... we have nearly the exact same pings and prolly same playing style (both camp like girls).

But who knows... why mess with something that up 'til now has been working fine?

If it ain't broken, why fix it?

yeah best to experiment, find one ur comfy with,

i also have MS Intellie explorer, took some getting used to though, i play with very low sensitivty and it still very fast,

contact me on #ukla or #bwadmins and ill send u my configs

Yeah i use really low sensitivity and mine tracks to fast still.
