cs 1.5 thinks i got 1.0?

For some strange reason when i try to use the lates cs1.4-1.5 patch it keeps telling me i got cs ver 1.0.
Now i have updated hl to 1.1.1.0 and loades cs ver 1.3 updated that to 1.4 and tried to use the patch but even after uninstalling it all and trying again it still dont work

Is there any way for me to convince the patch that i got cs 1.4 or do i need to try download the whole lot (56k so i could be awhile)

I had this, it was convinced I had 1105, the thread is bizarre update prob
DL and reinstall the FULL 1110 install

Can you not go to an internet cafe with a decent connection and get it burnt onto a cd?

I had this problem when upgrading to 1.4, however, I refused to download the full patch, since I am on 56k also.

I did however fix the problem allowing me to upgrade.

I think, I cant remember exactly, the way I fixed it was this :-

Edit the file called sierra.inf which should be in your main Half-Life/Counter-Strike retail directory. In that file, find the line that begins with the word 'PatchVersion'. Edit that to 1.0.0.4 . Try the upgrade.

I did this on the Counter-Strike retail by the way, so I dont know whether it will work on the mod version. Also, I can't properly remember if this is the way I fixed it, so no guarantees.

ok i modified that file and it now says i got an incorrect language version so dont know how i get around that since both are english versions, thanks for the help anyway.
I will be heading into a internet cafe but wont be able to for a day or to so we will try get that done at some stage thanks for the help people
