There there, dont worry tanks get some loving soon, you just hang in there chum.
We need you arms(wo)men, you do a fantastic job and without our realm would be very boring.
I love all you tanks.

The new patch should be a god send for tanks, will increase our survivability and thus our RP earnings. That said we tanks will never have the RP earning potential of casters, stealthers or even minstrels!

Would be a piss poor RvR group without us though :)

Gimp rez anyone? :p

try total RP not LWRP.

5 armsmen, 4 paladins.

all tanks (especially paladins with FH/resist chants) are extremely useful in RvR groups..

"I still say that tanks will end up being mezzed and killed first after the new patch" - that dont just apply to tanks.

Whats all this nonsense about tanks not being able to earn RPs? Hrod has RR6 (over 1mil rps).

Of course we can earn RP's, but the rate at which we reap them is very, very different to casters. Also because we are supposed to stand in the way of danger we often die ... the group gets the RPs but we don't.

Hrod seems to be online 24/7, not saying he's not a good player (cos he is), but if he were a caster class he'd have doubled that easily.

thats the point exactly. RP = time in good groups + time online..

not sure that if he were a caster he would have more RPs.... casters die a lot easier in RvR, and are targeted before tanks. i know in all the RvR groups i am in the first to die is always a caster.

Only dopey tanks go running off into 3 fg of unmezzed enemies - mostly out of heal range too.

Yes Jenkz they do - though hopefully in the new patch with blocking working properly, and more alert (also less selfish :) tanks about the caster survivability should increase in open field RvR.

But most RvR doesn't take place in open field situations - usually a milegate confrontation, or a keep defence/siege. In that eventuality a caster will reap in the realm points, particularly those that have AoE attacks.

And yes, some tanks are very stupid - but the same analogy applies to other classes. The number of times I've been with a defending Alb force and the Mids have feigned a retreat only to be followed by 1/3rd of our force and all the brain donors... Followed 1 minute later by multiple demands "REZ PLZ!!"

Sure Turamber, sure. Let me see order of priority for all Hibs/Mids.

a) Anyone weilding a staff
b) Are they Avalonian
c) If yes to above, kill

Survivablility of most casters - about 30 secs after battle starts. For instance, the moment they see a THeurgist send a pet out or start waggling their fingers you get insta-cast mezzed plus 2-3 tanks on you.

The casters that farm RPs are those with pbaoe at keep takes or bolt wizzies that manage to get bolts to actually hit.

And if you don't get hit as a caster in 30 sec, you'll get nearsighted <sigh>

Sure way to criple a caster...

And hitting with a bolt in RvR :( seems very hard, unless the target doens't see you comming

2 Archers in this weeks RP table :)

Dioz the Scout, nearing the bottom of the pile, and Mortymer the hunter, right at the bottom of the heap.

Did we all quit at once? :)

Last 7days farmers:
1 Walker Boh Albion 189,557 50 Servants of the Lake Wizard Avalonian
2 Xorta MindTwister Albion 186,267 50 Servants of the Lake Sorcerer Briton
3 Redb Albion 177,069 50 Servants of the Lake Cleric Highlander
4 Weebl Albion 159,723 50 Servants of the Lake Cabalist Briton
5 Coren Loreweaver Albion 156,623 50 Servants of the Lake Minstrel Briton

No PBAoE and 1bolter and 3 bolters.... the Casters that gets RP's are those not in the Zerg.

Bolts are gimped in RvR, they can be blocked by a level 1 with a wooden shield :) Any caster capable of causing AoE damage will farm realm points very successfully, far more so than any tank.

Casters earn more where they are safe, such as in a keep defence or milegate stand off - but their *potential* at all times is more than any tank.

I appreciate your comment concerning survivability, hopefully if you have unselfish sword/shield tanks in your RvR group from the next patch your survivability will be increased greatly.

EDIT: Just read your post concerning Paladins' role in RvR on the Templar boards. Keep in mind that the person you are quoting from is playing the 'fixed blocking' patch - before that standing around guarding a caster only blocked arrows and not enemy styles. Also a Paladin will not, on average, block as well as an armsman as our dexterity is not one of our key stats.

It's also worth bearing in mind that not everyone has a selfless view in RvR - they want to contribute something, do some killing themselves. The idea of 'just' sticking to someone and keeping them alive when they could be charging around like headless chickens is anathema to some individuals. Not me though :)
