Crafting in DAoC

With the increasing amount of items Good Ol' Mythic keeps adding to the game they have neglected something I find really important ; namely crafting. I am lgm weaponcrafter yet I haven't been able to make anything nor any order in months. With everybody using artifacts as weapons - and now the lovely looking champion weapons and even the Adze market going to hell right now its one of the most useless craft in the game. Same thing applies for Fletching - who wants a crafted staff/bow these days?

The only thing worth making left in DAoC is a spellcrafter/armorcrafter and even then ppl whine about the prices - while crafters only want to make profit instead of selling 100g above craft price.

Mythic should add new weapons - legendary or not - with different stats to make it again more appealing for ppl making templates, or tanks in general.

Sure - I can make LW's pîss easy - for whom? I sell MP weapons for 800G - 99% for 400g - cheaper then most other wc'ers and I never sell anything. My CM is going to be 'salvaged and hinged' soon if I want to make at least a portion of what i've lost back.

My advise? Don't pick up WC or Fletching ... big waste of otherwise good money.

i agree, well you can make a little money in fletching actually, but that's if you craft weapons/bows for thid chars, otherwise it isn't worth much.

Within the last month i have sold 3 things 2 thidbows and 1 thiddrum. I totally agree with you chief and concidering all the time and money spend to get where we are some sort of change will need to be done.... I call for a refund of all the money i`ve spend and free gametime for the hours i`ve spend

By now people just looking at us thinking , "What an idiot, wasting time on that"

Yea cash for those crafts are different atm. Since demand for WC and fletching has gone down etc. But before ToA/DR I'm pretty sure everyone wanted that MP crafted bow, lute, drum or whatever. Which made the crafters of that some of the richest, and ofc don't forget that still the only new cash that is generated is made from:
1) cash loot
2) vendor sell loot
3) RvR cash
4) handouts by GOA

salvagers were some of the richest ppl :p

I'd take a few mp adzes for 800g each... :touch:

At least wpn crafters can still sell LW's, I'm an LGM fletcher and I gave up making Legendary bows a long time ago. Infact the only way I make money now is through making siege, leirvik and thid bows / staves.

Kind of depressing :(

Agreed only good thing about Fletching, WC, and AC these days is the fact u can trinket 20 bars a time to make cash off farming.

AC dose make very very small amounts of money, mainly from people buying parts to fill in gaps in there temp, same applies for Tailoring.

SC is only useful for the gap flling items in temps too, and considering the time it takes to get to it, with no side abilities like trinketing its waste of time spent on money.

Alchie is the only booming craft left, this is due to the fact its the only real craft needed to sustain players in RvR.

Since the games population is slowly declining as the game dies off, it seems ot me that the marketing team for this game are clinging to the end result of the game to make there share holders there cash in r/l. So more and more tends to be based on increasing chars potential in RvR, or enhancing the experience in NF.

Its a shame really, there is a lot of depth and story in the game and a lot of un visisted zones. While the game is fully and only geared to the whim of rvr with no thought into the background support other players interests in things such as crafts will faulter and die off.

Maybe it would help f they released the skins of all zones to crafters ot make for players, and allowed them at various lvls so they can be worn in Bg's too.

And while there at it make BG keeps part of the main rvr experience, that might help drum up some interest in BG fighting if the keeps in bgs add the main NF keeps totals or something.

Well, in the recent polls most people want something else than crafting changes so actually crafters are again f***ed. Thank your realm mates and the playing population for this.

On the other hand the TL is working actively on improving crafts, especially WC and Fletching. The other thing is crafting quality.

Problem for now is the way Mythic coded crafting. Everything has its own recipe. One option to improve crafting quality was suggested as take the old item at 94% and improve to 95%, then to 96%, then to 97%, then to 98%, to 99% and then to MP.
Would make crafting MPs a lot more convenient. Sure, the prices would fall but that is only good if
a) more people have the chance to get an MP, after all a crafter can only craft so many hours per day
b) crafters have a sure way to make their calculations stick

Now to make this possible it would mean we have a recipe for the item at random quality, then a recipe for 94% to 95%, from 95% to 96%, from 96% to 97%, from 97% to 98%, from 98% to 99%, from 99% to MP. Call that inflation.
Finding the right recipe is a nightmare.

And this is mainly the crux of the current crafting system and making improvements.

I think crafting as some kinda in-game small business died a long time ago: building up a loyal customer base, being competative yet making it pay for itself, salvaging and trading in lowbie goods to pay for skilling up, seeking custom rather than avoiding it...

Nowadays it's mostly about guildies hasselling you till ur sick of it and then caving in and making em something - otherwise it's rarely worth the effort.

Like's been said tho', think you could find a fair bit of custom hawking MP small shields atm.
