Ok, I built my friends pc for him, he has an amd 2500+ with Asus A7n8x-x motherboard.

It seems to register it as a 2100.. these are the cpu stats..

Ok now my friend is even more of a newbie than me and he can't even find FSB in his bios so could it be named anything else?

It could be a jumper on the motherboard rather than in the bios. Its definately the FSB thats at issue, yours is set to 100 (well 99.47)

This cray little program makes little sence to me

in the bios, if its anything like mine (A7N8X-Deluxe), it'll all be under "advanced chipset features"

and labled alot clearer than all of that

Check multiplier is correct, and clock speed. Other than that see if Bios needs an update, tho if its a relatively new MoBo it shouldnt. Mine wouldnt see mine as an XP3200 until I updated the MoBo.

In the BIOS, work your way through the list of preset CPU configs to see if there is already one for 2500+ - though be careful because I have a feeling that there were at least two differently clocked versions of that chip.
If you can't find it there, I imagine someone will post the actual clock/fsb/vcore settings you need below in a matter of minutes :)

The 2500 Barton core has a 333 FSB, so set the BIOS to 166 or 333 (dependant on manufacturer - MSI always have the FSB/2. Ive never had an Asus board so dont know what they do). The multiplier and Vcore should take care of themselves unless you get into overclocking.

I think the 2500+ run at about 1.8Ghz, so 166 x 11 (Your current multiplier) = 1826Mhz so sounds right to me.

Most mobos won't let you put the core voltage to 2.5V :p

Clown if you aint going to help then get the hell out of the thread. You shouldn't be going around tech forums posting what would seem 'helpfull' information but is really 'this is how to fry you're chip'. People are obviously very gullable here, a lot of people post here because they are not sure of what they are doing... It's a bloody good job I didn't attempt to change it last night or I could well have ended up blowing the thing.
Save your idiocy for somewhere else.

Using the same proggy for my Ath 2400+ on and Asus A7n8x deluxe:
Internal Clock: 2004.53 MHz
System Clock: 167.04 MHz
System Bus: 334.09MHz
Multiplier: 12.0

so looks like its the FSB setting.
On the deluxe you have the "CPU External Frequency" in the Bios setup, which should be half the FSB.

and looking at a manual it looks the same bios setup as mine:

Check the bios version, older bioses won't recognise certain CPU speeds. I speak from experience.

Just had an interesting experince while flashing the lastest bios to my a87nx-deluxe, sounding similar now.
After I flashed and rebooted it came up with a cpu speed of 1200Mhz, despite having CPU external frequency set as 167 and a mulitplier of 12, though it did say my memory speed was 100. Had to change memory frequency from auto to 100% and all seems fine now.
Already had problems getting this board setup once, and thats after RMAing one as well.

the A7N8X-deluxe reverts to 1200mhz if it knowtices its been overclocked too far, and won't boot
