Current specs:
Core i7 4770k quad core @ 3.5 GHz
GeForce GTX 1070
16 GB RAM
Windows 10
Native res 2560x1440 (playing games at 1440p)
I play Battlefield 1 mostly and I've noticed that sometimes when there's a lot going on I'm seeing some quite poor FPS. Generally speaking, it's only when there's a LOT going on because otherwise it's smooth. I've noticed i've got DX12 selected, and I'm thinking I should be using DX11 because, anecdotally, frame rates look poorer at some settings with DX12. Upgrading to a 1080 (a cool £500) would only yield a reasonable increase at 1440p which my 1070 should be able to handle (I play at Ultra settings with anti-aliasing OFF) .
The question is - is my system CPU bound? I'm too out of the loop on this sort of stuff, but a general google is that my CPU should be plenty and the gaming FPS is really dependent on the card (mostly). Advice?
