yes as i stated once, they have a right to it, but there rich enough it shouldnt worry them a great deal that there losing a very slight amount of money compaired to what they have made/will make from just doing concerts etc

Heh so you have knowledge of what should and shouldnt bother musical artists and and recording companies do you?
/hypothetical
You earn £200 a week, but every week someone nicks £5 or so, and you dont know who has got it. But probably its someone less well off than you.
Would you complain ? Or would you just shrug your shoulders and say hey its only a fiver, probably someone worse off than me has got it .

its rather relative

if i couldnt download music i wouldnt buy much either, i would just listen to the radio a lot more, so me downloading costs them nothing.

besides, they may end up making money from it if the people downloading like the stuff enough to go see them in concert etc.

Look, the point is this.
I couldnt give a shit whether you download music or not.
But dont try to rationalise it by saying "they can afford it", cos thats not the point.
if it were my money mate Id want it, and want it all ...

Thats different because a 'normal' wage is needed for living, where as their wages pay for £200,000 cars and such. If I could afford to spend that kind of money then I wouldn't care about not getting x amount more :)

i guess it's not so much the music but the change in habits and traditions that ppl arent getting used to

that is this online "download" stuff is relatively new compared to other things and my guess is that the authorities don't really know how to deal with it

hence put it in jail ;D

but more realistic would be to say that you might earn 5k more if there was no pirating.

Also partly why downloading is done is because its easier (atleast imo). No need to go to the shop and you can put together a cd of your own liking. There are other reasons, but these two is something the music industry can compete against.

it's easier to say than to do remember

you get a car today with 500k

1m a week and you'll be wanting a plane

then god knows what else

when you actually have the option it's quite hard to resist

starbucks are doing this thing in america where whilst buying a coffee you compile a cd of songs at a terminal next to the till and then you can burn it off and take it home. Cost of songs+cd is added to your coffee bill, rather a novel idea i must admit

starbucks kick ass

they've always been happy to accept new methods and such

e.g. the addition of internet access and such at some of their branches

yeh i agree its there money and its ok for them to want it, its theres after all, but i mean, they make that much cash they have that much they will never spend it all in there life time (they will all die by a OD or smth eventually), so i dont see there problem losing a little bit of cash from that, and if i lost a fiver every week from my wage, i wouldnt be that pissed off, i can live on £195 a week, i dont do fk all :p

gamblers do aswell, a friend of mine will put about £50 into a machine before the night is out. and back on topic, i dont really care too much about all this now, ive said my opinion, and people have just said what they wanted about it, thats fine, thats the point in a disscussion, but when some one says something that says im lying, i get a little annoyed, u dont know me, so u wouldnt know if i would of wouldnt get annoyed at losing £5 a week.

Stop with all this "they can afford it" shit. You're stealing. It's thievery!

So is the overpricing of CD's

Except one is a more legal form of stealing than the other with little to do about it except complain to trading standards and hope for a change of heart from a marketing exec

I'm not stealing anything :)
I'm downloading a COPY of the music :p

Not that it matters, it's still against the law, just breach of copyright not theft, aint it?

Yeah and as soon as you get a job, you start paying rent.

Nobody can buy a house on 200 quid a week, let alone rent a place. If you could, you'd be living in a bedsit, or Salford.
