Couriers - Why the feck don't they adapt to today's world?

What the fuck is with courier's only delievering Monday-Friday between ~8am - 4pm and requiring a signature.

Newsflash: A lot of us work / have school etc. and can't make monday-friday.

I can understand them choosing not to do sundays but why the hell not saturdays? Get with today tbh - more and more people (including women) are working.

Anywho, basically I can't get my frickin harddrive yet because the courier delievers at a time when my bro is at work, me and my sister are at school, my dad is at work and my mum is at work.

Ofcourse, I could drive to the pick-up store 30 miles away but I'm paying for a fkin delievery service here - deliever it to me on saturday pu-lease.

Citylink are the absolute worst though. It took almost a month to get something delivered because they wouldn't accept someone elses signature, despite the package being delivered to my halls reception. So by their logic i had to know when they were going to deliver my package exactly

you can pay most companies a bit extra for weekend delivery if you need it to be at a certain day.
Then they have to pay any fee's for you if they dont deliver on the agree'd day/it goes back to them

If you have a tracking number then you can ring them and let them know you can have someone else sign for it.

Isn't the telephone system all automated though? I ended up choosing a day for delievery and it should ' thank you' then cut me off without mentioning signatures etc. =/

Couriers service house wives and the unemployed, they are shit to say the least. Anything I order now I have sent to work now but it wasn't always so easy, and this isn't an option for alot of people.

Citylink however seem to have more depots are open later and are open saturday mornings so you do get a pick up option, like you do with the post office. So in that regard I have found them to be better than most.

Citylink are wankers. Henri Lloyd used to use them. Once I had to travel to their depo 25 miles away to pick up some jeans. Another time they left £300+ of clothes with a neighbour 10 doors away and didnt put a card through my door to tell me this. I just thought it hadnt been delivered. Then, best of all, they through a package over my back garden when it was pissing down!!!

amazon use citylink on my last package from them, and they even rang me up and said they couldnt find my house until i gave them directions and they were here pretty quickly by 10:30 am

i dunno, you gotta think that for delivery companies to increase their delivering times/speed they gotta increase work force which means reduce profits, not really worth it for them + we're at their mercy.

Citylink are a pain but if your planning a recorded delivery when you know you won't be in you can hardly complain. Could try specifying they can leave it on your doorstep when you make the order, or opt for a cheaper delivery where a signature isn't required.

I think there is also a service where they can leave it at your local post office, maybe more convenient than the nearest depot. That may be only parcel force though.

ha i hate having to wait for a package tbh when i brought my banjo i had to wait for her to turn up and ofc they came when we were at work, they didnt ring to say when they'dbe coming man i wanted my banjo sooo much i could have burst an artery lol.

however saying that, the company (dunno who) that delivered the cross trainer were great, they called my bf to say what day they'd be coming (ok ok i understand they cant give a time because of traffic etc) but that morning they phoned and said "with yu within the hour" nifty!

another really nice thing; about 2 weeks ago got a letter hand delivered from an electric maintainance company saying "On the 19th we will be cutting your power from approx. 9:30 it should be back by 11:30" which allowed me to make a note of it on the calendar so that i wasnt working on the pc at the time (lol doing an essay BAM powercut bye bye work is so not funny!), seeing as our electric was going to be out i went for a walk got home and read for a bit and at 11:30 taa daa power was back!
