(german)

Next week one of the test servers will be opened for paying 4players "VIPs" only and it will be in coop modus. It will be closed end of month.
(Kinda promotion, they can dl the full game incl. ToA)

I hope they don't use it as a test run for coop in general, cause I think the response won't be very high and might destroy the chance for getting a general coop server for a long time.

Oh god PLEASE give us a Euro co-op server.

I know a lot of people who would really, really like a co-op server...US Players get access to the co-op gametype and it seems only fair that we in Europe get access to it as well.

Direct cut'n'paste from the Herald site:

"Cooperative servers step away from the traditional ruleset, in that you may play in all three realms on these servers in a cooperative fashion. The server is completely Player vs Environment (a.k.a. "PvE") with the exception of the dueling options. For more detailed information about these servers, please visit the Customer Service Site."

Keeps in the frontier zones are overrun with very hard (lvl 75 or so, I've been told) mobs, who you kill to get RPs. It's PvE heaven, every zone of every realm is open to all players, DF open all the time. I know people that play the US co-op servers and it's apparently a hell of a lot of fun, obviously not aimed at RvR fanatics but then

1: not everyone is an RvR-orientated player, by far, and

2: RvR-orientated players already have plenty of servers to RvR on. Hell, there's even a PvP server if killing other players is the only thing you want to do in this game. There is currently no co-op option for European players.

Only if you consider PvE grind, and RvR fun. If you don't enjoy PvE, then don't play the co-op server :D.

You're very high RR, and well done on it...but most players will never get to anywhere near RR8L6. You have to really love RvR to do that much of it, and....well...read again where I said that by no means all players are RvR-orientated.

A lot of the people I've talked to IRL and in-game would be very interested in a co-op server.

I seriously doubt many would play on a coop server if we had one in eu. The concept is just too boring.. what can you do if there isn't enough people online/willing to make some raid or when you get bored of pve raids? (which happens pretty fast). There's no point even to do pve much because what can you do with uber items? kill mobs better? :m00:

And again with the "if you don't like PvE or find it boring don't play a co-op server" response.

Having all 3 Realms to explore and hunt in is something PvE-orientated players would really enjoy. It should be noted that while one of the 2 US PvP servers was recently shut down due to there being so few players on it, the US co-op server has always had a very solid + loyal playerbase.

I think a lot more people would enjoy a co-op server than some might think.

Is it so hard for some people to grasp that some people actually enjoy PvE ?

For the vast majority of people RvR sux's majour arse is unballenced and as boreing as feck.

I would jump @ the chance to group with people from the other realms and explore.

Gaheris (US co-op server) is a joke tbh... almost always has the lowest population of all the servers (as I type this the population is 260) no-one really plays the game just for PvE, there's stuff like NwN etc. for that... yes it has a certain novelty value (dwarves in camelot) and might be fun for a short time, but in the end... there just isn't a single goal to reach for, you PvE to be able to.. PvE more mobs, only stronger

Apparently. RvR players complain about the "PvE grind" as though Mythic just introduced PvE and XPing in a patch.
The reality for a lot of players is that the RP grind is far worse than XPing any character, and all too often RvR just doesn't give anywhere near enough return in fun or RPs to make the colossal timesink that is trying to get higher RR worthwhile (and yes, obviously Frontiers is aimed at fixing a lot of the current problemas with RvR).

For me a mixture of PvE and RvR ( the regular servers ) works just perfect :D . When I go tired of RvR I find myself a PvE raid or something like that to go to. I don't believe I'm the only one whom thinks like this ?

But since they gave the RvR lovers a PvP server to go to, I don't see any problem in giving the PvE lovers a coop server. Accually I would think it is a good idea ! If it is enough ppl whom want a coop server that is ( I kind of got that impression :) )

Co-op would be fun. due to being able to team up with different realms etc. but u can do that on camlann to. with the must have wine and cheese serverd :)

Camlann grind makes it fun due getting a rvr kill once every 5th minute.

Sure getting 50 on Co-op might be a blast

but after 50 collecting item after item and burn them out on df seal farm that u wont even need cause u dont need to fit your characters with max resists cause u wont meet pbae grp mobs would you?

Co-op wouldnt work in Europe ? I think not.
I list reasons:

We got germans,frenchs etc.
they invaded camlann and the so called english pvp server aint more english than myself (swede) xD
It will be pissed off UK playerbase vs german, french.
enough reason tbh,

Why would this maybe work?
Perhaps the shit going on camlann wouldnt occur on the co-op server.
I seriously doubt the EU,DE,FR players would work together tbh. overall that is.

And you think Camlann isn't? It has the lowest population of any of the Euro servers, and most people who try it for the first time now come straight back out and never go back. Doesn't mean that it should get shut down, though, or that there shouldn't be a Euro PvP server, since there's obviously a small hardcore who enjoy that gametype. Fair enough, there are also (I would suggest a lot more than want to play 24/7 PvP) a lot of people who would enjoy the co-op gametype.

no-one really plays the game just for PvE, there's stuff like NwN etc. for that...

RvR players think no-one really enjoys PvE, but a lot of people do. Why else would there be threads in the "Newbies" forum here asking about fun PvE-only characters? If people really don't like PvE, why not play the guaranteed PvE-free team-based combat offered by so many FPS games? Quake, UT, BF1942, Enemy Territory, Tribes etc etc etc all offer excellent team-based action with a level playing field and no levelling.

:D

And why the ...? Maybe you wouldn't enjoy a PvE server but don't rain on the parade of those who would. And whats the "goal" once you hit, say, RR11? Just keep scrabbling around in the frontiers trying to kill more enemies? More than a few people see RvR as boring and pointless. With a Euro co-op server all Euro players get a chance to try all DAOC gametypes, and they can decide for themselves which they prefer.

I find that "rp grind" attitude complitely absurd. If you think its a grind why do it?? It doesn't exactly make much difference whether you are rr10 or rr1 if you don't rvr. I would consider it very stupid if someone rvr'd just to get rps, what do you need those rps for then? nothing. Rvr is the endgame and if it doesn't appeal to you dont do it, i play rvr because i find it fun and challenging.

But then again, guess people like different things in this game and i don't really have anything against it if they'd set up a EU coop server. I just think that the population would become a problem. And if there's very little players even those who love pve wouldn't be happy.

Precisely. I've seen people say that if there was a /lvl50 server with no Realms and just frontier zones they'd re-roll there and never go back...I wouldn't touch a server like that with a bargepole, I don't see the point of playing a MMORPG at all if you find PvE that off-putting, but like you said, people want different stuff.

I find the "XP grind" attitude ridiculous in a game that has contained PvE and XPing from the start and always will. RvR is not the "point" of DAOC, it's just a part of it.

With a Euro co-op, everyone gets a choice, at least (insert standard-issue "we pay the same as the US players, we should get the same choice as the US players" comment here).

If you dont play for RP why do you put the RR lvl of your charecters in your Sig... to say you only RvR for the "challenge" i find hard to believe tbh :m00:

Personally I think the games original concept ( the Realm Versus Realm consept, and the mixture of RvR and PvE ) fades a little bit when one play on the PvP server. It would also lose some of its consept if they make a pure PvE server imho. But if people likes the idea of it, why not? In that case I think its a great idea!

I guess you people whom want a co-op server that much, dident start to play this game while waiting for a PvE server, or?
It is the mixture of RvR and PvE that makes D-A-o-C Dark Age of Camelot! The consept is in the name of the game itself, take it as proof :)

I could not have played DAoC one more second without RvR, but apparently not everyone share my opinion and I dont expect you too. I guess you guys grew tired of it :(

Sorry for the bad English

Look at it this way: the main point of a game, any game, is to have FUN. If a Euro co-op server would allow more people to play the game in the way they choose, then it can only be a good thing.

With all the trash french and german 1337-k1ds locked up at Camlann I think an English Coop server would be very much fun...

I enjoyed the level 1-10 at camlann before /lvl ability ^_^

also I hear that the mobs at the keep on the US-coop server is quite good programed with good paths etc.

Dont get me wrong, I enjoy the RvR aspect of DAoC, aswell with the PvE aspec - Its more the attitude it brings and that casual players is having a hard time in RvR, which isnt getting better with TOA...

I dont think a Coop server would have high pop. but im 100% sure that more than 1500 players will be seen online at primetime, so around whats on at Prydwen :)

I forone would like a Coopserver.. or/and a 3rd english server so I can get to play all 3 realms in English

Svartmetall - Im with 100% ...

XP (and ml and artifact) grind is boring and annoying, it was okay the first time through, when it was slightly new, but mobs seem all the same very fast
PVE is quite simply dull once you have tryed rvr at a decent level, not mindless zerging, or in grps that get farmed, far more fun to fight intelligent enemies than mobs that you know exactly what will do, for me at least.
rvr in daoc unique really in games and its worth the boredem of the xp grind to get to it
and as for higher rrs disliking the idea of co-op, thats probably because they have rvred in decent grps and found out how fun it is compared to pve

You're getting the wrong idea. I think Camlann and Mordred are just as pointless as Gaheris and any possible Euro PvE server... these kind of servers are the equivalent of playing tennis with a football. Yes, people are welcome to them, I don't have any problems with them existing, but they are never going to work as well as normal servers and are always going to be underpopulated... now, a home invasion server... that would be interesting. Anyway, I have to point out I said no-one plays DAoC just for PvE, not that no-one enjoys PvE - but I'm sure even the most hardcore PvEr will RvR too and even enjoy it from time to time. As for grinding to RR11... well that's not really a target anyone is going to meet, it's like going to politics with the intention of being the Prime Minister... only a very few elite (and perhaps insane) people are going to make it. The rest of us just enjoy ourselves... some people are obsessed by realm points but I'm not one of them, I'd prefer a good battle and a gain of 100 realm points than a boring one and a gain of 5000 realm points - and remember, in RvR, nothing is predictable (except Emain) plus you can win by other means than equipment, skills or luck (knowing the terrain for example) and... well, I could give you a few thousand reasons why RvR is more fun than PvE, but mainly the thing is - I, like many others have played this game since release and frankly I'm bored shitless of PvE, I've seen nearly every area/monster in all three realms, played all of the classes, killed the epic monsters, been in command of more ToA raids than I care to remember, and I personally wouldn't mind never killing another monster. Like many others, I only really play the game for RvR - and I think you'll find we're in the majority.

Tbh if you want to fight "intelligent" enemies yer more likely an FPS player or an RTS player then an rpg player.
Besides that, "RvR to RvR" is eventually the same when comparing it with "PvE to PvE".
You do a repetative action to do the same action at a higher level, really when getting to the core it's all the same and quite pointless, as in time consuming, but hey thats what they want us to do right? be addicted to something meaningless and paying for it aswell.

Enough of the whines from everyone, Co-op will or will not be a succes if it ever comes, we'll see, but those "loving" RvR should in fact encourage such a thing since all the PvE'ers, or most of them, will move there meaning you won't get any easy kills anymore making the game a challenge, right? or isn't that the idea? having to RvR for weeks just for a RR or 2? Keep in mind that about half the rp's you earn come from easy kills, which would be similar to the so called "simple PvE mobs" you RvR'ers where referring to.

I myself are looking forward to a Co-op server if there will be one, meeting old friends who preferred to play other realms back then and willing to switch back to co-op for the same reason and enjoy the fun of pve raids the same way you rvr'ers enjoy keeptakes or rr's.
