Cooking in the Danger Zone

Has anyone else been watching this show on BBC4? It is a real eye-opener as to how the rest of the world and less developed nations eat. The South Korea episode talks alot about the Korean obsession with eating dogs, you see some really heart wrenching scenes of these dogs being commerically farmed and treated appallingly. The China episode is stunning at times as well, the scorpion kebabs looked disgusting but the locals seemed to eat them with real gusto. Some of the things these oriental people eat are stomach churnning to use westerners. Things like dog penis snacks in Korea and China, testicle kebabs in Afgahnistan really makes you wonder why we in the west have become so squimish about eating things like sheep and beef offal.

Anyway, if you haven't seen the program you can grab it off Demonoid, if you are interested in food it is a really enjoyable show.

maybe we dont like it because we make dogs our friends (or some of us do).
i suppose its ingrained in us all that a dog is like that, like a human can be a friend. and we dont go around eating each other.

orientals on the other hand may not care so much about making an animal be a friend and just eat the son of a bitch.

Yep you are right. It did break my heart to see the way they treated some of those poor dogs though, I suppose food is food but there is no excuse for cruelty.

Eating dogs, well, i would if i had no other food. Wouldn't like it though. Kinda would hope i had a human handy if it came to that.

But, about them eating dogs? Sure, go ahead. I know a couple of indians who don't appreciate our bovine glutteny manners

He might only be a third rate mutt, but he'd damn well make a first rate second course !
