Lots of these kickstart projects about atm this one is very cool linux/android TV in your pocket. It would be great for my aged bedroom TV. Also for the travel I have to do with work.

why dont just use a raspberry pi instead.
only thing thats tempted on kickstarter so far was the 3d doom headset. even then the peeps behind it were quite honest how it wasnt suitable for peeps with glasses yet

pretty sure some peeps are working on doid for pi. tho with xbmc and certian scripts atm you dont need anything else
