Hiya guys, as u can see from the sig below im currently playing daoc.

i have played SWG before and loved the game, but if didnt have to much pvp to offer at the lowers lvls so i stopped.

Now i have watched the vids and adverts for SWG again and the combat system seems to have improved.

Now firstly i wnated to know wether the "jump to lightspeed" expansion, acyually makes space flight missions and be able to fight against other faction members Rebals/Imperial.

Also wehter there is alot of players xp'in a lot of the time as i dnt wanna Solo all the way.

what Server is the best to play on?

thanks guys :)

JTL is good : you start off as either a Rebel, Imperial or Neutral (Pirate!) flyer. There are different enemies and missions for all of them. Although I haven't got all that far with it (found the ground game more interesting in the end) plenty of people switch factions after mastering the one route and explore the other teams ships and special moves. If PvP in space is your thing you can certainly do this, people say that you make the best faction points in space. Neutrals have to declare for a side, though, before joining the PvP action in space.

Soloing is pretty difficult after the Combat Upgrade, until you get to a point where you have decent armour and access to heals or buffs. But *lots* of people are grinding away each and every day - not least because of the plethora of people levelling Jedi. I went from a CL1 noob to a CL80 semi-noob in about two weeks flat, and I'm a casual player.

I take it Jedi takes loads of work? :)

Depends on what you consider to be work ... it seems to just take a lot of time, and the dev's have made it so you have to wait a few weeks at a time to advance from one stage to another. Personally if I wanted to play a Jedi I'd go play KOTOR, so am having fun exploring the rest of the game.

jedi is just time consuming, i have one, just takes around 6 months to get one now, thats from start to finish.

EDIT: JTL is good fun, yes you can do space pvp, do it some times, and it dont matter server wise which you choose, depends on the time you get to play, if its late in the day you get to play, pick a US server, if its normal, then you should pick a EU server.

Heya,

I played SWG a while back shortly after it was released but i too stoped playing, i started again a couple of months back and there are alot of changes. Firstly the combat has changed alot - They had the "Combat Upgrade". Basically it's alot more exciting now, special effects for some attacks, effects on the monsters that kind of thing.

I play on Europe-Chimera, i can't speak for the other servers because i only play here, I find it very easy to get an XP group when i want one, theres usually alot of people XPing, however that is the higher levels - (Combatlevels range from 0-80). Can't be sure on the lower levels because i kinda skipped them - with my respec - lol. Switched from Combat level 17-80 instantly when i dropped my Architect/Merchant skills for Master Bountyhunter, Master Rifleman and Master Marksman.

Thats another thing, if you're going to try and reactivate your old account, assuming it's still there and you left before the respecs were given you may possibly have 2 respecs too.

Can't comment on space or Kashyyyk (Wookie planet with the latest expansion) as i don't have either, space looks great - I just havn't got around to buying it simply because this games so massive i'm still having loads of fun on the ground :p

Hope this helps.

The CU means that any level can group with any other level and all players are considered equal to the top level player in the group.

Jedi is the most difficult profession to master, but its peanuts to the DAoC levelling system.

A full-blown Jedi is possible in 2-3 months without much problem, however, to grind like this you will be noticed by bountyhunters and have to accept being killed a few times.

JTL is great fun until you have completed the xp trail and the missions (took me 2 weeks doing it casually), the pvp is a lot of fun, but is crap compared to games like x-wing v tie-fighter, which gives you an idea how naff and medieval the space combat engine is.

Wookiee-world (Kashyyyk) is great fun and easily the best thing in the game at the moment, which is sad as the pvp is dead unless you want to play Jedi v BH. Rebel vs Imperial (Galactic Civil War) battles are dominated by Jedi on every server, if your not a Jedi, don't bother.

The game is still rediculously buggy even after 2 years, every pub (patch in daoc terms) screws the system up a little bit more and breaks a lot more than it fixes. The game is NOT what it once was, the developers seem hell-bent now on everyone becoming a Jedi or a BH, and to be honest i can't blame them as this sells games!

It's still a good fun game and great if your waiting for a certain game to be released or taking a break form another game, but if your looking for a long-term investment dont bother with SWG.

IMO ofc :)

Jedi are not hard, i have about 13 hours play time and all i have to do is 2 theme parks and a proffession get jedi. ok then i have to start leveling my jedi skills but i consider getting to jedi what matters.

I think the key to becoming a jedi is planning what ur gunna do.

you then have around 5 months of waiting for phases to change for village, then grinding the xp to fill them trees you unlock for the village :p

EDIT: thats before you even get initiate in jedi btw
