Can't get enough of FH

incredible stuff.. couldn't bear to watch a lot of it after flintoff was out.. but when hoggard smashed that off drive for 4.. was then and only then i knew we'd done it..
warne and lee bowled their arses off :worthy:
but ultimately its was that partnership from flintoff and geraint jones that done the damage.
5th test.. oval.. bouncy pitch.. simon jones has an injury.. bring in tremlett perhaps if jones unfit? england will win that one too imo.. ashes gonna be won
but it will be close yet again hehe.

I think Jones will probably be out unfit. I think Tremlett is the best option on a bouncy pitch since he's got pace and lift. Some have talked about the likes of Collingwood being called up to add to the batting and because he can bowl a bit.
The only problem with that would be that Vaughn, Bell and maybe Trescothick would have to cover the extra overs aswell and I don't like that idea. Also the 4 seam and 1 spinner option seems to work for us and its not worth changing what works

Nail biting stuff! Warne bowled supremely which was the danger of forcing the follow on. So glad they made it. Warne was not man of the match he made no runs this time. Freddy full deserved that accolade.
What made it for me was Pontin throwing teddy firmly out of his cot. Followed by Katich, both were fined (75% match fee) for their outbursts and rightly so. Katich may even undergo civil action from some of the members who were verbally abused on his return to the dressing room.
Just shows the pressure they are under. The Sydney Herald had a front page announcing the death of Aussie cricket. The reverse of which is what spawned the ashes.
I firmly support England and any team playing Australia. With the exception of France of course!

I was talking to mate yesterday who reckons that if it rains all day on all the days the tests are scheduled for, it means that no tests are played and effectively the series ends in a draw. Surely this cant be right and hes takin the piss?

A washed out test is considered a draw, but I think they'd look different if the whole series went down to the weather.

Marc, your friend is correct. Also, suprised you like American Football. Watched the Seahawks live in Seattle once, 4 hours with 40 minutes of actual action. Much prefer rugger tbh.

If the weather really was that bad and bearing in mind how late in the summer the series is finishing, they would probably have no choice by to call it off altogether. How could they orangise another 5 test series mid way through September? I doubt the ECB would want to hold the series in Australia or another Southern Hemisphere country as they would loose most of the advantages we have with the pitches.
No grand national was a money looser for the orangisers but they did not have uch choice. These things do happen in sport.
Its all conjecture anyway, we're near the end of a fantastic series of Test Matches. the best series for 20 years by far.
