Hi all,

So the GF comes home today and discovers our office full of smoke. She, like a good girl, turns everything off until I come home.
It smells of electrical smoke.

I installed speedfan which is giving me these settings:

It looks like the AUX fan has stopped working, but I dont know wtf AUX is?
Any suggestions?
The case fans are all spinning, as is (I think) the CPU and PSU fans.

125 seems a bit hot to me?

means Auxillary or in other terms a second or third fan other than your primary

it could also be a faulty temperature sensor

Yeahhh, 125C is a bit hot; it could be a thermal sensor on the motherboard itself. All the other temperatures are acceptable.

Can you actually see the fans spinning? And are there 4 in the case?

It used to be that the various type of monitoring software in the past didn't always link the right sensor to the right name, thus it may not actually be the aux temp.

Best to open up the machine.
I had white smoke come from my computer once. I could actually smell which component it came from.
A transistor in the PSU burned up. All that was left were the pins. Strangely enough the PSU still worked and my computer ran fine. Replaced the PSU anyway :)

If it's stopped working then why does it show an active RPM?

I had a CRT monitor catch fire once when we moved house, that was entertaining. Was the best excuse to get a panel ever.

Any idea what I do next? I turned it on and nothing stank of smoke. The entire pc seems to run ok. Clealy (I assume) it shouldn't be running that hot? Do I carry on an if not, how do I work out what fan/part needs replacing?

Personally Tilda I'd never leave it on unattended again.

I've no other real suggestions though other than dismantling the entire system and seeing if you can identify the source of the smoke.

I had a call at work once to say that there was smoke coming from my computer and that she had turned it all off. Got home, took the damn thing apart and couldn't find any reason for the smoke of the smell or burning I could detect. A few months later I took it apart further to replace the front fan because it was ticking and annoying me. The edge of the fan was melted and so was the USB bit on the front panel USB/Sound board. Explanied everything. If everything is running fine then make sure your computer and especially the PSU are completely clear of dust.
