Ok ....
Before I post link ...
A quality power supply is going to be the best money you will spend. It goes from PC build to PC Build with you and just provides stable power supply. It just helps your pc boot up succesfully every time and makes sure you don't get any power fluctuations when you are hammering your system in the middle of big RVR session. Nothing worse than accumulating a big rp score/irs and losing it to a reboot.
Anyway one of the big issues I have when upgrading components, is deciding if my current power supply will provide stable current with everything switched on.
Anyway the following link is to a power supply calculator. Put in all the components you have currently. Then add the new gfx card or hard drive or cpu and see how it stacks up. With alot of new and very power hungry gfx cards on the market. Overloading your PC will cause unpedicatable behaviour and wear out the power supply. Better to retire it early for a more powerful supply, and having it the rack, ready to bring out if you blow your latest power supply out. Remembering of course than RMAing anything can be weeks of waiting.

I hope this helps some people.
