Ever since I saw some reviews I have lusted after a Corsair Vengeance keyboard... ummed and ahhed about whether to get the K60 or the K90... then thought about waiting for the K95... long story short I constantly put it on the backburner due to the difficulty in justifying blowing £90+ on a new keyboard when i already had a perfectly functional keyboard.

That was all well and good until I actually got to mess with a K60 in a shop last week and I fell in love... It was even better than my old Cherry G80 Mechnical that I had used for ten+ years and sold (for more than I paid for it in the first place!)

I bought it today... It's a match made in heaven... my typing speed and accuracy has more than quadrupled instantly, I'm approaching the speed I used to be able to type at on the old G80.

I love it. I won't hesitate in recommending it to anyone who desires a mechanical keyboard.

However....

My Wife cannot fucking stand the noise it makes... she is literally shouting and screaming at me as I type this... I feel heartbroken :(

I refuse to dispose of or return this keyboard and will keep it for use when she's out of the house...

but I now need ANOTHER new keyboard... Can anyone recommend a *mechanical* keyboard that is as close to silent as it is possible to get?

Tdc. No. I paid for most of them and I'd have to pay for their replacements.

I already have a Microsoft Desktop 800 Keyboard.... I bought the K60 because i literally cannot stand membrane keyboards.... I thought there must at least be a decent mechanical out there somewhere with some sort of noise dampening built into it, like some sort of cushioning to quieten the impact of the keys.... it's not like i smash the keys down, i am actually very light fingered. but. it's still noisy :( (i personally fnd it a pleasant noise, the sound of industry, my fingers move, words appear, you know what i mean?)

there was a thread a while back about keyboards with key actuation switches that were user choosable? something like red / blue / brown switches or similar?

Yes, the different kinds of Cherry MX Gold-Crosspoint mechanical Microswitches. Reds are the quietest sort apparently, and were once particularly hard to come by. I have reds in this keyboard. enough said :(

hah don't worry about it mate, truth be told, i am loathe to use two different keyboards anyway, it's a fucking stupid idea (no offence yaka), she just needs to get used to the noise of this thing.

It's annoying. I can't use a mechanical keyboard purely as I can't use straight keyboards, they're shit. I've got a couple of spare Natural keyboards I intend to mod one day for mechanical usage. Intend to use cherry red's in it. Not much more I can suggest - mechanical keyboards just don't do quiet :(

Kryten likes bent keyboards *snigger*.

I wanted one of them microsoft natural keyboards for ages when they first came out, then eventually my sister bought one, I had a go on it, I hated it :/ guess I'm just a straight kinda guy :)

I'd say I'm "bi" ;) - I can still rattle out 90wpm on a straight keyboard but it's 20-25 lower than what I do on a natural. Plus my shovelhands fucking hate me for it afterwards :( (it's not natural forcing your wrists to be that close when they're the size of mine!).

pfft, there's nothing unnatural about having your wrists close together. hmm, maybe on the other hand i've spent far too much time in handcuffs? *ponders.

Check these out: http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index....ries-2/cherry-mx-rubber-switch-dampeners.html

I haven't tried them myself but they might be what you're looking for.

I don't know what kind of switches your board has but if it's blues, those are the loudest ^^ I have a Filco Majestouch with brown switches: they're like blues but a bit quieter, although they do still make a fair amount of noise. I think reds are meant to be quieter.

Bend her over the keyboard and fuck her into the keys until she learns to love the noise.

Then piss on her tits. Bitch.

I have a similar issue with my mechanical keyboard - an IBM Model M from 1987. Still the best keyboard in the world (who needs a Windows key anyway) but her indoors ain't a fan, so I got a Logitech mx520 for when she's asleep. It does the job, still feels spongy however and can't hold a candle to the Daddy.

Sorry can't be of more help, but did notice a mechanical Lenovo when I was searching for the Logitech, might be worth a look.

As an aside she once suggested chucking the IBM in the skip. I suggested we do the same with her GHDs and slept on the couch that night on principle.

oooh bold move. women and their GHD's...

TDC what's the obsession with setting fire to shoes btw dude?
Wij, I applaud you... I can't see that working however... and her tits are rather massive, i'm concerned about the piss spraying off them onto the keyboard....

I miss my IBM Model M keyboard, got two of them in the loft, would love to use them over this shitty Logitech G110. Half the time the keys do not register. Fucking Zarjazz.

I've never really been a fan of Logitech keyboards.... I bought a wireless one MANY years ago, back when keyboards only came in beige... as indeed did, well... everything...

anyway, it was a most unpleasant experience and I haven't bought myself to repeating it despite good things I occasionally here about Logitech's G-series keyboards....

ATM I think the mrs may be selectively tuning out the keyboard sound as I haven't heard a word about it all day, though that could be because I've been extremely productive on the work front and she didn't want to disturb me (I Managed to do a week's work in a day).

G110 <3. Been using it for 2 years now, lovely keyboard. Unless you're a big oaf with hands the size of car wheels, it's perfect.
