if you put it on fastest framerate and set effects to self you'll be fine.

Given you've got a better rig than me (apart from the unfortunate Vista install) you'll probably be able to up things from there, but YMMV.

(STAYIN GHETTO & OLDSCHOOL ETC)

so you should have no probs at all.

thankgod someone else plays on a non godlike pc. I'm sick of reading VN, people asking "zomg will my Oct-core Phenom 20ghz/ 9800GTX x 10 run WAR?!?!111"

I cant afford to upgrade until I get a job, so I'm stuck with my 3 year old 2.7ghz, 1gig ram, radeon9700 laptop :) Its done me proud up until now so I'm not giving up faith yet!

I will be happy if my hamster powered machine runs the game. Only interested in the gameplay of the game so will run at min settings if i have to.
2.66 P4
2 gig RAM
256 Geforce 6200 (shame on the card but getting a Radeon 9550 off my bro)

I am confident that my rig will run the game at medium/low setting which is fine by me.

I do plan on buying a new rig when i save up a few more £££.

------------------------------------------
A duel core processor is slightly less than double a P4
eg. duel core proessor 1.5GHZ = Around 2.5GHZ on a P4 so ur pc/laptop has to be like really old for that

And the memory is nothing u can get 2GB RAM for like £40/60euro.

Also the the cheapest of the supported video card you can get for like £40 but it about £10-£30 to get it fitted into ur pc (dont know if u can get graphic card fitted into laptop.

I have like a laptop from dell from like 3 year go, it got a 1.6GHz duel core processor and 1 GB Ram and like a normal graphic card that cant even run wow. That why I just brought a Gaming Pc that got everything i need for Warhammer at my local pc shop.

Cheers guys for the replys good to hear that my cash wasnt wasted lol, just wanna be able to play w/o RvR turning into a slide show.
And i have seen the minimum specs, but you never really get the proper experience running on 5fps do ya, just needed to make sure my new rig could play smoothly etc...

undivied, that is actually wrong. There are a few generation graphic cards behind that which would just be able to run again. I think most of the 5xxx series would, on lowest settings. But aye, that's right ^_^

Actually, I'd reccomend the OP to get some more RAM. I've been running on 1.5g DDR-ram, and my fps goes down to postcard/slideshow in big rvr-battles, despite an ok graphicscard. But the good new is: DDR2-RAM is cheap! if you need ddr-rams, (as in _not_ ddr2) try looking for second hand ones. The factory new ones cost a lot more than ddr2, because they are of an older standard.

Hint for non-geeks: XP 32-bit (almost all xp-home and xp-professional) can only handle 3gigs of ram. XP-64bit and Vista can handle more. Vista requires almost 1 gig ram more than xp 32, just to run itself.

Vista is required to run directX v10. But WAR only supports directX 9, so no sweat.

Don't run this game on an fx5600-card. All objects that are not ground, buildings or persons will be vividly rainbowcoloured. It only makes sense in the high elf starting area ;-)

I've been reading that people have been having problems with SLI, but as I'm all too willing to point out, this is still the beta, graphics are unlikely to have been optimized.

Whats your budget fafnir?

I would have gone for the 4850, with the possiblity of adding another one in when they are reduced in price.

But hope it all runs good for you faf! You wont have any problems playing war :)

i was playing fine with this old number.

AMD x2 3800
2gb ram
9600 gt

In the big keep battles, I set it to fastest framerate and it seemed fine, the odd moment of choppyness. Other people where complaining about the fps but it didnt seem to bad for me.

Even though i know that ram increase a lot the performance of a game is there any difference by having 4 Gb instead of 3GB? I have xp pro 32-bit which if i am not mistaken the max amount of memory that manage is 3 GB. The game on the other hand will use the extra 1Gb i have or not ?

Was told 32bit use 3.2gb ram the rest is waste of space.)

With prices of ram so cheap now, its more cost effective to get 4 gig ram than 3 gigs.
You probably wont notice the difference that much, but its more future-proof, and Vista 64 bit is often the same price as 32 bit.

I bought a Dell XPS1530 laptop last month (not particularly with gaming in mind - more for surfing etc while watching TV). Spec is 1.83ghz Core2Duo, 2gig RAM and GF8400M Gfx card with Vista installed.

Now a question for the knowledgeable: At the moment I'm toying with the idea of downgrading from Vista to XP. I have issues re: my existing software having no Vista compatibility (mainly Macromedia) & I also cant see myself requiring DX10 any time soon). Would downgrading give me a significant improvement (or for that matter decrease) in perfirmance with respect to WH? Looking at the RAM demands of Vista (2Gig) I'm wondering if freeing up up half of it with the step down will make a difference.

It certainly would make a big difference.

Go for 4GB. As Pikeh says it is future proofing you and you may lose out on some performance by "only" having 3GB of RAM. What I mean by that is if your motherboard is able to run your RAM in dual-channel mode it can read/write faster. You can't do dual-channel with 3GB of RAM as you need 4 memory sticks the same size. You still will see only about 3GB of usuable RAM but it will be faster. If your OS can't "see" the extra RAM then nothing running inside your OS will either. RAM is "relatively" cheap so go for 4 x 1GB sticks even if you can't run it in dual-channel mode (assuming you have 4 RAM slots ofc).
