I'd think knowing some laws would be good for accountants and business stuff.

You don't have a "i didn't know it was illegal to move this money" defence ;)

You might not think it's important, but they are teachers by living, so i would assume they know a bit more about what to teach :p

Indeed goddamnit! What does 3d modelling have to do with maths!!!! Thats really got to be a joke, yeh Dave? :D

So i'm doing business/accountancy..

The fuck has law got to do with this?

One example where it has a large effect is if you get into auditing. There are plenty of other examples too.

Sucks while doing it though if its an aspect you're not interested I guess.

Everz, have a wank and ejaculate into your hand. Then run up to a friend shouting "High 5" and smash your hand all over his face

Because there are many, many laws surrounding dealing with peoples money and rightly so. Not only do you need the knowledge of these laws so you can act correctly and close to the bounds (more money!), you also need to learn how to properly research laws. Ultimately, as you leave to get a job in the field, you'll have very little knowledge of the precise laws and for a career which could span 40 years, laws will inevitably change. Courses aren't there for learning hardcore facts, they're there to teach you how to teach yourself...

If you've done any programming as part of your course (re:Anything other then HTML/CSS I guess) then algebra is massively important to know. I'd also be very surprised if you didn't have to do a fair amount of statistics as a part of your course too...

This is the first year they've done the law on my course. It's not business laws is what makes me lol, it's general court cases.

Year one Geology consisted of

-Geology
-Geography
-Oceanography(my choice)
-FUCKING MATHS FFS
-Geophysics (ugh)
-Social stuff about people and energy usage and how disasters effect cites etc

The geography stuff was annoying, relevant, but annoying. And the maths can lick my hairy balls! The Geophysics is hard but at least it feels relevant.

Its like they are arming us for when we decide to either go work in the conservation of our wonderful natural world by working in green energy or perhaps helping to save endangered species and areas.

Or taking that big fat pay cheque, pulling the hard had over our heads and working in mining or oil.

Surely geology being a physical science you'd need to know a bit of maths to explain a bit of stuff :p.

In highschool I never whas any good with any language, so I ditched all besides the ones I really hade todo. I always wanted to study Egyptology at the uni so thats what I did.

After a month orso you learn that you really need to understand:

Dutch
English
German
French
Latin
Ancient Greek

And it's a great help if you understand Italian and Spanish aswell. Ofcourse with all the grammar that goes with it. The main course and the only thing you have to pass the first year is reading hieroglyphics (from some era). 3rd year you have to learn Arabic aswell btw.

Needless to say I failed horribly (I just gave up :<).

Become a chartered accountant like me. We need some more rock n roll in the profession. Im sick of going to seminars and meeting ***** from KPMG etc who think they are rock n roll because they had 4 pints on a monday night. ON A WORK NIGHT!

They are! I cringe at these seminars. I dont want to discuss the new GAAP international regulations during the break, I want a pint!
