Made a character, got given a quest. All I need to know, is how do I find certain villages? Is there an ingame map? Sorry if this seems obvious to you guys, but I have NEVER played this before!!

One's gotta admire you for taking on a mmorpg so long after its release :worthy:
Try here for the maps, or just do a google search for "daoc maps"

Thanks, the link was a great help :) As for waiting so long, I have been too wrapped up in Jumpgate, SWG and Eve. Jumpgate I dont play anymore due to its dwindling appeal, and SWG bores the shit out of me. I still play Eve tho, love it to be honest, but needed something different to being in space.

Here's a great site I found for maps and each map also includes the beastiary so you know what you are up against.

http://www.io.com/~caladin/kirstena/

Being one that gets lost real easy, I printed out the maps and connected them by tapping them to a few poster boards I have near my desk for quick access.

good luck :)

which realm / server are you on?

Definetly mid - i remember that quest when I tried leveling there hehe, such a dull grey drab place.

Best advice for any new player is the /advice command - it gives you a list of people who are willing to answer any question no matter how small.

hehe we got a tuppe on mid/pryd as well :D

oh and excal smells :D

i find Catacombs to be a good site for maps/character plans

for quests i usually use warcry it also has info about armor resists, realm ranks etc, no trials of atlantis stuff but you probably wont need that for now :D

piece of advice, reroll today :p

Don't listen to Dorin. :twak:

I play Mid/Exc to and if you need any help give me a /send on Urme.

One advice I can give you is don't play a rogue as a first class... you will have a hard and long way infront of you.

A pure tank as Berserker, Warrior or Savage is easier to begin the game with.

But it's your choice :)

hmmmmmmmm you are using my forum name for wrong purpose :)

but good luck in your xp grind :) example sticky 101 daoc links is good page where you find help in many question, but many question you never find answer there, run around, have fun.
group if possible whit other peeps, chat whit them, read forums etc etc, when you believe yu are ready for next step? look guild to join.
dont join 1st guild who ask if you willing join, ask from other guilds what kind guild this is? ask guildforum if they have, how many peeps online in that guild and so on.
many guilds dont accept all in, usually you need be certain lvl, this mainly because try avoid new players who play 1 month and when payday inc, dont play anymore :)

you maybe wanna join some guild who have all players from same nation what you are? suggest -> dont do that.
game´s breed and butter is meet new players around EU area, maybe even from US? (kale is 1)
i have enjoyed my playing time, soon 2 1/2 year, and meet peeps around EU, great persons and bad.

My apologies for the use of your forum name, if is a problem I will start a new character. Not sure if you read Robert Rankin books, but he has two characters in 3 of his books, called "Cornelius Murphy" and his loyal but short chum, "Tuppe". Hence the choices. :D

Welcome to Midgard, Tuppe
I am sure you will have a great time here, Mid/Exc is a nicely populated server, not too busy and even in the wee hours of the night you'll always find another player around.
The best starting places are: Vasudheim, Mularn and ofcourse Fort Atla where you have the lowbie dungeon(Nisse's Lair) and the beach of Nalliten with its abundance of wee wolfies and crabs :) and the portal to Shroused Isles (Aegirsheim)
This would be a great start also: The beginners guide and Quests for Midgard
Leave me a PM here if you want, with a time/day that you most likely will be online, I can make you some starting armor and weapons if needed and fill your purse with some gold.

But most of all: HAVE FUN Tuppe :drink:

Welcome to Midgard Tuppe, need help you only have to ask, see my sig for character names, or type /advice to see whos online and willing to offer help and advice.

The first tip I'd give anyone starting out, get yourself into a guild, its a lot easier to get assistance that way, and certainly helps the days pass while exping your way to 50.

My guilds always welcoming newcomers to the game, feel free to pm a member in game for an invite, just type /who realm and ask someone, tell them I sent you. Were not really there for PLing or dishing out huge amounts of cash to everyone, but well give what we can, and point you in the right direction.

Welcome to the game Tuppe. It's always nice to see new players around, it is something different than all those /level 20 players which got lots of lvl 50 mains :). Well you will love this game at the beginning cause everything will be new to you. Altho I suggest you to make a new char, a fighter, and at lvl 5 chose the path of a berserker, savage or warrior. It will help you a lot with finding groups and it will be easier for you to solo (especially with a warrior). Well have fun, and this site is great for all kinds of info and has some great spell/combat style list + lots of maps:
